How do I 'help' my OH have his own LBM?

  • Having read your post its like looking into a mirror, I have just taken the decision to go onto a DMP as advised by the cccs as i cant afford my minimum payments and im robbing peter to pay paul as someone mentioned, and i just cant do it anymore.....bear in mind that i owe £6k if im honest....

My OH however owes £30k, pays his credit card bills by another credit cards cash etc and thinks that when the bill rolls in for £120 minimum payment, paying £130 will somehow drastically reduce it, no it adds £3 on every time therfore going overdrawn occasionally, so therfore he is not paying anything off,

I took advice for him from cccs and they came back with BR, no other choice as there is no surplus cash left at any time....... BUT he wont listen to me i cant help him out but i cant make him make a decision either....he's very proud and yes he works very hard in a not well paid job 76 hours or more a week......

But somehow he refuses to see this mess were in, we have a baby on the way which was a complete shock.... but were struggling to provide for ourselves and our 7 yeard old.....To me there is no other way out other than for him to realise, swallow his pride and get on the phone to the cccs.....

Sorry for the rant... but why do they not see it the we do ???? Donna. xx

I sometimes feel like he dosesn't want to grow up where money etc is concerned. It is just frustrating that we can see how things are but they seem to have rose tinted glasses!

By the way - I wonder if there's any research into whether men or women are more likely to get into debt?
I wondered too so did a bit of 'googling' and came up with:
    1. Debt Worries Women more than Men http://money.uk.msn.com/guides/Credit-Reports/article.aspx?cp-documentid=4752664
    2. Men in 20% more Debt than Women http://www.lovemoney.com/news/destroy-your-debt/news-men-in-more-debt-than-women-447.aspx
They are quite old articles so don't know how relevant they still are but was interesting none-the-less. :D
