mitsubishi motors hell

this is my first post so hi to all first, i have a mitsubishi shogun 3.2di-d which is just under 6 years old and has covered 51,000 miles however last week the plastic adjustor on the timing chain has for some reason snapped and basically dropped into the timing gear and not far short of destroyed the engine, the current bill for it is running into thousands to repair, my argument is the timing chain is not a sevicable part and is designed to last the lifetime of the engine, mitsubishi inform me this is not a manufacturing fault and that even though the car has only done 51,000 miles its tough luck they don,t want to know, any one else had an issue of the same kind and how do i stand legal wise the car has a full sevice history and has not been thrashed

Could you possibly use capital letters, full stops and paragraphs?

This will make your post a lot easier to read.

According to my local dealership, the timing belt should be changed on the 54,000 mile service (I also have a Mitsubishi Shogun 3.2di-d). So I don't think you have a case, it is expected that it will need replacing around this time.

think you will find that its a timing chain thus it never needs changing

and the car has only done 51,000, even if it was a belt it is below the recommended changing mileage surely if your car had only done this mileage you would expect it to run reliably beyond that point i had a toyota landcruiser far exceeded:mad: this wish i had stuck with them

Chains wear and need replacement just as cam belts do, as your car is 6 years old it's no real surprise MM don't care.

It's just one of those things and you'll have to either find another engine or get yours repaired.
