Time limit on getting PAC?
Does anyone know if there is a reasonable time limit on obtaining a PAC from an existing provider?
I phoned Carphone Warehouse customer service and was told I could ring them before I decided on who to change to - or could simply go into a store and ring them once I had made up my mind. Being cautious, I tried to get the PAC from them before I needed it - and am having grest difficulty.
I have spoken to them on several occasions; faxed an authorisation through; got a disconnection reference. Now they want a written request through the post :wall:
How long can they drag this out? It's not a particularly large contracted amount each month - and all because I want to change network provider (not the handset, phone number or anything else).
Tried a similar exercise with O2 - one phone call and the PAC was in the post.
Am I just unlucky with CPW? Does Oftel have guidelines on this anywhere?
Thanx for any help on this.

Ofcom says they are legally obliged to provide you with one but can levy an admin charge. I wuld just send in the written letter if that's what they want(by recorded delivery) then take it from there if they still refuse0

CPW are deliberately dragging it on for as long as possible in an attempt to make you try and give up (and possibly stay with them). Getting a PAC code should take no longer than a few days (orange send one to you straight away), I suggest speaking to the customer services team. If they can't help you then ask them for a address to put in a written complaint against them and that will stop them messing around real fast. Hope this helps.0
