grrr - they make you mad these folk
What you need to do is compare, like for like, with Sky or another provider and if the other provider works out cheaper, advise Virgin you're wanting to leave. Believe me they'll match it. BTW it has to be the disconnections/retentions team you speak to as customer service can't offer the same deals.0 -
Did you ring this number: 0800 952 8078 and then stay on the line (despite it saying hang up and ring 151)? The 151 number man said he couldn't do me the same deal as new customers, but the 0800 number woman did it with absolutely no problems. Maybe it's a different part of the company?0

My friend has Virgin package, which did cost £38 per month but recently went up to £52 per month after 12 months contract period was up. They rang and queried but Virgin said it was because they have been upgraded to 10meg broadband. They asked for this to be reduced back to 2meg but Virgin said they couldn't do this. They threatened to cancel and Virgin's reply was "ok when can we cancel for you?" There was nothing in the contract to say the price increased after 12 months but apparently this is why they can do it! Outrageous. Virgin know it will be too much hassle for them to get a BT line installed and change broadband provider etc. Any ideas?0

I rang 150 last week and asked what do I have to do if I want to leave the guy said I only have to give 1 months notice and asked why I wanted to leave, told them it was the price and a few mins later he worked his magic and I now have the same package for £18 a month cheaper.0

Its not getting upgraded to L. Its getting upgraded to 10Mb but it will have lower limits before they reduce your speed compared with the L package.0 -
Miss Goodie, I left Virgin to go to Sky (regretting it), and at the time even Retentions couldn't match the price Sky were offering, so we left.
In the 30 days notice period, we had a couple of calls from Virgin saying they can now offer the same deal.
It's a gamble, but may be worth it in the end.0
