Sammy - Good news on the montessori thingy... Dora will love it!
Bunny - can't go anywhere in May but i'm definitely booking a holiday for 1st week august, have decided.... will be me, mum and Erin... can't wait!
I may even buy a bikini!! (saggy belly not withstanding!!! remains to be seen....)
I suppose this means you'll be bronzed and gorgeous in June then.... <note to self get brown before meeting bunny...>

matched betting.
back manchester united at bookies
say to betfair you think man utd will loose or draw....
Get odds as close together as possible
loose about 20p of your own money... gain about £19 profit on a 20 free bet.

You beat me to it Maz! I too would like to know about it! I do 'normal' betting and have 10p e/w on Exotic Dancer in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham, but the potential return of £1.45 is hardly going to help me!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts

I am going to have a look at this matched betting later tonight, there maybe lots of PM's pania as it has to be in real basic terms for me to understandI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

So would that be £19 profit at the end, then you would use some of that £19 to bet again? Surely though if you loose £1 on that initial bet and them subsequent ones you're not going to make money....see I told you I would ask loads of questions!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. Maz - this is my (vague) understanding of it......but please don't anyone take this as gospel because I've only done it once and someone was talking me through it.
you basically (I think) bet on an outcome, and also 'lay' - bet against that outcome (ie, liverpool to win, and then liverpool to not win - so draw/loss). (you use a bookie for one, and betfair for the other)
But you have to find odds that are as close as possible. And then use a spreadsheet to calculate how much you need to wager (is that the right word).
Basically you have to do a qualifying bet, and you're ideally looking to come as close to breaking even as possible on that one - by doing that you trigger a freebie bet (you'll have seen the adverts for 'free £30 bet if you do x,y,z').
Then you use your freebie bet to do another matched bet - again coming as close to breaking even as possible, but this time, because only ONE of the bets was made with your own money (cos the other was paid for by the freebie), you in theory make a profit equivalent to the freebie.
It's not quite THAT clear cut because you rarely if ever find odds that match exactly.
Also, some bookies have conditions that you have to wager so much before you can withdraw, meaning you have to do more matched bets before they let you have your money.
I could have that completely wrong though so do go and read all the stuff on the MB forum before even thinking about it.
Edit - oh dear Pania explained it so much better and quicker :rotfl:"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Pania - Is betfair the only website? Are they on quidco?! Can you lose or will you always make some money as long as the bets are sensible?!
Sally - I hope HSBC sort themselves out, but thank you for using the '!!!!!!' word again! I saw you use it the other day and meant to say something, as I think it's brilliant! I'd not heard it before, but presume its an amalgamation of 2 very rude words, so as to still get the sentiment across, but not appear so rude! I love it and I think I will use it more often!Official DFW Nerd Club #20  Proud To Be Dealing With My DebtsDFW Long Hauler #109
