The malaria nets are not 'tokens' nor are the drop in centres for the kids that are carers for their parents.
Malaria has been wiped out virtually all over the world except for Africa-they will help and save a life. That is not a token. Nor are the schools they build, or the bikes they give or the wells they drill.Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -

He has ruined that country, given the farms to HIS people who have no experience of farming, so the farms have just been left to rack and ruin, causing the food shortage that the majority of the country is suffering, just because he didn't like white people.
*gets off soap box*
But Mugabe - like every leader - cannot act alone. People who issue orders in isolation soon end up in rooms with rubber wallpaper. He had his supporters, who he bought off with the wealth of other sections of the populace. A significant proportion of the populace supported his course of action of wealth-stripping other people without thinking long-term enough about when it would be their turn.
This is not unique to them, or to Zimbabwe, or to Africa. How many people in this country would and do vote for higher taxes so long as it's not them getting taxed?
We are not immune to Zimbabwe's fate ourselves. As we walk their path, we will walk to their destination. If we walk slowly, it will take a long time to get there - but only another path will take us somewhere different."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Personally, if I can help save a child from dying from malaria, or a young child in Telford from having to look after his disabled mother alone without support.
I do not profess to be a scientist, or an economist but one thing I am is a Mother. I cannot watch a child suffer, not matter what country they are or for whatever reason they ARE suffering. If I can help, or make a difference in a small way, I will.
Totally agree. No child anywhere should ever suffer xIs it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Thank you Snags.
I sat with my children tonight on the settee watching those boys look after their parents and Freya was astounded that they knew how to cook and 'turn on the cooker' and they were so young...it is because they HAD to.Empty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0 -
Did anyone see the first clip of the child carer, his mum was blind and his dad had some other disorder... my first instinct was for the poor kid who's living a terrible life but then i thought, maybe the GP of the mother and father should have been advising them that having kids was ill advised in their situation... maybe that's a bit extreme but my opinion.......
Erin just said to me, "mum, you're on telly"
She meant Nessa!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
