  • Len,
Frankly I find your comment about them 'breeding' completely tasteless.
I agree they need education but sex is a basic human function-they havent got money for food, let alone condoms or birth control pills.

we are lucky bunny, whether that because we were born into a country that has what we have or because we have made it ourselves...

Is it really luck if you did it yourself? Or just hard work?

My concern is that when we forget how things get done - i.e. that infrastructure is built by hairy-arrse builders and not by a bunch of hang-wringing entertainers - then it will stop getting done.

That would not be good. And yes, it can happen here - we have no "immunity" to deprivation.

can you imagine what it must be like to have a life like those in Africa..

In many instances it is the life they have made for themselves. Zimbabwe was once the breadbasket of Africa - now it is the basket-case of Africa. And there is simple cause and effect there.

I know so we need to stop them having more kids than what they are despite it being a natural thing to do, or stop having red nose days, live aid etc etc until we get to the route of the prollem first. But thats my opinion dont wanna upset anyone. Can I get you a drink?

Babies are innoncent and thats the true tragedy eh. What they need is investment and education not exploitation. They also need to stop breeding as much as they do. Thomas Malthus said something like, the more you feed them, the more they can breed and the more problems they can cause' Extreme but true in a way.

Although it's true that food production increases linearly and population exponentially - breeding like rabbits is not a cause of their problems. If they can keep their children provided for without relying on handouts, then that is entirely up to them.

It's when they can't that all the problems start.

And that applies equally to a sink estate in Croydon as to a rural village in Niger.
