Can I use all the free £5 virgin sim cards abroad?

I bought a basic virgin phone so that I could use all the free £5 sim cards I have been given.
My eldest lad is going to Paris soon (he asked if he could go on the school trip, I said yes - then he told me it was to Paris!!!! lol).
I thought it would be a nice idea for him to hand out the simcards to his fellow travellers if they are feeling homesick.
What I want to know is will the sim cards/phone work in Paris?
The phone is a Siemens A65

Yes they can be used in France. Calls from France to Uk would cost 95p a minute.

That's brilliant, thanks a lot. Although the kids are 13 it may be the 1st time they have been away from their families. As I received all the sims free I thought it would be an idea to let anyone who is homesick phone home - 4 minutes is enough to have a bit of a chat half way through the week.All credit cards paid off.
