AOL vs BT

Hi all,
I've been with AOL for about 6 years and never really had any probs. My most recent package was £9.99 per months unlimited usage with a 2mb download speed.
I just rang today to ask for an upgrade and they offered me a free Netgear DG834G router, review below......

......on a 12 month contract with free ANYTIME calls uk/national for £6.99 per month, 10GB download FUP.
Initially, I thought it was a very good deal and was just about to sign up when I saw the thread about BT offering good prices to LLU deals as low as £7.33 per month. I rang them just now and they offered me sweet FA cause I am a new customer, but promised to reduce my costs after 1 year. They also told me that I would have to pay them £30 to cancel transfer the call package from them to aol if I swapped because I apparently signed up to a 12 month call package in Sep last year when I rejoined.
Has anyone got any advice on whether I can bargain or persuade either supplier or whether there are any other similar deals on the current market?
Cheers

I think you would have to see what is available at your exchange.

If you put your number into Samknows you'll see what is available to you. There might be more available than just BT and AOL and you could compare them.
BTW I am with AOL for BB and phone, but I am on the evening and weekends package which is free calls evening and weekend (up to 70 mins) and costs nothing, you just pay for other calls, maybe this is more useful to you?
