Network Q Have I been mis-sold.
Options
Hello,
I bought a second hand Mazda RX-8 5 months ago from a Evans Halshaw Vauxhaul dealership. At the time of purchase I asked about the warranty on the car. They said no problem and sold me a 12 month network Q warranty and a MOT and service plan.
The car would not start so the RAC took it to the garage. After several phone calls it turns out they have had to send it to Mazda and I may be charged.
My question is if they can't fix the car i should never have been sold the warranty which in turn means I would not have bought the car. They were also supposed to do a full service and a 114 point check how could they do this if they don't know about the car, also how can i be sure they will service correctly in the plan I bought.
I am now realy concerned and after 10 phonecalls i still don't know where the car is or what is happening.
Any help will be welcolmed.

really need more info here
its not uncommen for a garage to send a car to a dealers for diagnostic work as the dealers often have the specialist equipment and up to date software
have they told you this is something you will be charged for?0 -
I think you are jumping the gun. Just slow down get a report back and find out what the form is.0

Think you are getting ahead of yourself a bit how long have they had the car? the Rx8 is quite a special car with that engine, you did keep topping up the oil? It's probably a good thing they are getting help off a Mazda dealer!0

I do think it is good they are getting help but I don't see why i should foot the bill. They have been unable to tell me what mazda has said I am still waiting for a call back. My issue is how can they service it and warranty it if they need to send it to mazda everytime. This was something I asked when buying it as I know the rotary engine is specialised.
I am starting to doubt their ability to look after me as a customer.0 -

but who has said you have to pay for it?
you have a mazda with a rotary engine.you bought from a vauxhall dealer.did it not occur to you for some things it may need specialist servicing?
as ive said its most likely in for diagnostic work.once that flags up a fault they can fit/replace parts themselves.0 -
When I called yesterday they said mazda had to run some sot of diagnostic / flash and it would cost £65 + VAT but he was unable to tell me what it was. It did occur to me that it was a specialsed car and that is excatly the reason I asked the sales manager and the sales person if the network q warranty and serviceing plan could cover the car. The answer to both was yes. This now seems not to be the case.
if it is at mazda for diagnostic its because they can't do it why should I be charged. I will call them now to see if there is a update commence breath holding0 -
i would pull out your warrenty docs 1st0

Your warranty will not cover diagnostics for a fault that is not covered but will for a fault that is covered, until they tell you what is wrong you can't really do anything.
The warranty should pay out even if you got the car fixed at the mazda dealer if the fault is covered. And you can get it serviced where you like.0 -
Have you been doing your daily checks? Oil and water levels etc?
No one has told you of any problem yet, and I for one would be much happier that the car had gone to the main Mazda dealer, less likely they try to fob you off.
So all in all you appear to be getting excellent service.
Chill out and try not to alienate anyone until you know and understand what the problem is (perhaps too late for that if your not careful!).0 -
am i muissing something here, it broke, they sent it to be fixed, they are still working on it?0
