  • I got Married in the Dominican Rupublic its a lovely country to get married in. We got a package with Tompson holidays (they used have a video you could send off for im not sure if they still do) )

Most Holiday companys arrange weddings now so i would have a good look around all of them to find the perfect place for you. The place we got married no longer does weddings anymore as it has changed hands now but the hotel group we got married in was a Alegro Resort if that helps you.

The only real problem was that all the documentation has to be translated when you return for all your documents like change of name but even that wasnt much hassle.

When we arrived in the resort we talked over what we wanted with the rep and then on the actual day we just turned up and everything was done for us. A lot less stressful than a wedding back home! in fact we got married at 4 pm and i was still in the pool at 12! :rotfl:

Good luck with your plans :hello:

Me and my partner are getting married there in Dec '06 the cost of the holl/wedding is a good deal at about £3500 but the cost of the legal paper work is going to cost over £800 that we did not budget for.We need afadavids, decri nisi's etc then they have to be all translated into spanish then all have to be legalised and all sent to the Dom Rep embassy in london to be checked out.All this paperwork has to be done within 12 weeks of your return date.At the moment its a very stressfull time trying to get all this done in the timeframe given.

Hopefully it will all come out ok in the end.
  • hi, we got married there 4 years ago, the best holiday we have ever been on. We went with 11 others they also havnt had a holiday like it since too.

We went with jmc to the gran ventana in playa dorada a lovely 4* hotel with brilliant food a la carte resturants too. Highly recommended.

as mentioned before documention is a pain in the bum....but did you know that there is also a dominican embassy in liverpool...i found them more helpful than london. if you need a good translator i can recommend you one shes quite cheap and a fast service, i used her again on my return to translate my marraige cert.

At the hotel was a canadian wedding organiser...she did everything...didnt even have to pay for flowers etc...all paid when checking out We also got married at 4pm ( it was suppose to be 2pm but they ran on dominican time!)

pm me if u want the address of translator x good luck
    £900 towards next holiday...ta very much Mr T x

thanks for the offer but i think we are using one recommended by the holiday firm she does the whole package translation, gets them legalised, and takes them to the embassy, she does that trip once every fornight.

What type of price did you pay if you can remember because i am working to a tight budget and maybe then interested i'd just send everything in overnight secure post and i should be ok with that.

Go on then i will have the name and number of your translator i will give her a ring and see how it goes.

    Cheers
