I currently have my calls with bt evenings and weekend plan and 18185 for daytime. Recently i'm finding myself calling these numbers more and more (and before u say cannot find geo numbers on saynoto0870 website).
Have tried the call checker on this site and this doesnt give prices for these number.
Does anyone know where I can find out a price list for the cheapest way to call these numbers?

The cheapest provider of 0844/0871 calls is BT.0

I'm not entirely convinced that BT is always the cheapest provider of 0844 and 0871 calls.
The Phone Co-op have certainly allowed me access to advertised 1p/min 0844 numbers for the right price - 1p/min - and unlike BT do not have a call connection fee of 8p and a minimum call charge of 1p +VAT applies on some tariffs. I'm not sure about all 0844 and 0871 numbers, but if they charge the same per minute price as BT but charge per second and with no connection fee then surely they are cheaper.
You would need to contact them for their full 0844/0871 price list, however, as I have little experience, other than being able to confirm 1p/min 0844 numbers and 10p/min 0871 numbers that I have called have been charged at those prices. I have not tried any others.0 -
i thought these numbers were free with BT now.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Hello,
Calls to 0844 and 0871 numbers can vary as there are quite a few number ranges, and you can check those on the BT Pricelist at:
http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/public/current/Call_Charges_boo/1632_d0e5.htm#1632-d0e5
(You only need to look at the first and second column) and to check what price the code refers to you need to go here:
http://www.serviceview.bt.com/list/public/current/Call_Charges_boo/0016_d0e5.htm#0016-d0e5
Hope this helps.
Cheers,

To expand upon Stephanie's reply for the sake of clarity:
Prior to the temporary reduction in VAT, the cost of calling 0844 (and the new 0843) numbers varied (depending upon the 5th, 6th and 7th digits) between ½p/minute and 5p/minute. The 2½% VAT reduction means that, for the rest of the year, those prices will be slightly lower.
Similarly, prior to the temporary reduction in VAT, the cost of calling 0871 (and the new 0872 and 0873) numbers varied (depending upon the 5th, 6th and 7th digits) between 6p/minute and 10p/minute. The 2½% VAT reduction means that, for the rest of the year, those prices will be slightly lower.
Remember that, from a BT residential landline, calling such numbers always attracts an 8p 'call set-up fee' as well.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
