Welcome to the "peasant renters" thread, to run parallel to those posh home-owning lot
So, what part of your household take-home total income is your rent?
That's: pay, bonuses, benefits, tax credits, maintenance ... or the cash you get selling pegs door to door.
Mine's 45%

Ours is about 10% of our combined income, which includes rent and rates (council tax in NI).
We save heavily to be able to buy a house outright next year, so that I can then move on to the other home-owning lot.0 -
I pay neither rent nor mortage, being one of life's spongers.
Oh jip, yes, we do pay rent, DH's lodgings....er, I can't work it out. I'll round up, I think we pay about but between 70-75% of income towards savings for house expenditure and rent, combined.0 -
18% of our combined net. Savings is about 30% and the rest is bills and fun.:beer:Five exclamation marks the sure sign of an insane mind!!!!!

My share of the rent, before bills, is 28% of my take-home pay. I am paying the same rent as in 2005 though, when it was a much larger percentage.Hurrah, now I have more thankings than postings, cheers everyone!0

about 70% of my net income goes on rent. my partners salary makes up the rest. going to be tight when she goes on maternity this month though.0

My rent is 75% of my net pay & Working Tax Credits which are godsend. Before Council Taxes, bills, shopping and foods... Basically, it is very hard but rewarding to save so much. I want to have a nice little home, just one I can call my own one day!
@ruggedtoast Congrats! I wish you and your partner well!0 -
