Funny that in a thread about never winning people are discussing it all the while their wins are clear to see in their sigs.

I have entered thousands of competitions since August 2008 and won NOTHING. When i say nothing i dont mean the "nothing" that people are talking about here, where winning nothing aparantely means £100-300 of prizes per month and cd after cd, book after book etc. I have won nothing.........................

Maybe because this thread is 2 months old, they have won since they made their post in this thread, your signature automatically gets updated in all your previous as well as new posts.

Not me lol - really rubbish on instants lmao

Anyhoos my twopennethworth - Everyone who enters comps will go for the "big" prizes which vastly reduces the odds of winning
Everyone likes an easy life - less entrants in "effort needed" as people are inherently lazy - better odds
A lot of the big total winners are "down south" and I'm sure a canny chunk of their totals comes from tickets to shows / exhibitions etc - there seems to thousands in the London area which will really bump your totals if you look at west end prices.
There does seem to be a bit of beginning / middle & end picking when you look at the winners lists - can you shorten you name so you fall into a different slot - I'm not advocating using a false name or someone elses (although I'm sure it goes on) but a bit of lateral thinking can go a long way.
Read the terms !!!!!! other folk will be entering multiple times if its allowed - so can you.
Ok essay finished lol - my highest value win was a £350 textile pack today - the rest are mostly toiletries / toys / DVDs etc - it all adds up at the end of the day & pads out Xmas pressies :D
Happy with any wins this year :A

I mean really, you have to go into this not expecting to win. There are so many compers around that the odds of winning anything aren't that high. It's fair to say if you enter lots and lots of comps then your chances of winning vastly increase but it's still not guaranteed.
I think you can increase your chances further by seeking out competitions which are very local to you or are niche interest. For example, I am a HUGE Eurovision fan so I will try and seek out related contests to enter because I know that they will only have limited interest generally. Look for competitions in your local press or advertised in shops etc
I can honestly say that I am thrilled every time I win something, even if it's only worth a couple of pence and I NEVER expect to keep winning stuff. For me, it's just a fun way to pass the time and I absolutely love coming on here and reading all about other peoples wins and chatting about the comps - it's a lot of fun :D
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

:rotfl:Now thats a tad harsh - I too like a bit of Eurovision! So - thats two of us entering those comps then?:rotfl:

Everyone's right really - comping never guarantees wins - harsh but true. It can be time consuming, which is why you have to enjoy entering them. Dont get me wrong if you have a dry spell we all know it can be disheartening - but do try and keep your chin up - if it helps I had a win arrive in March that was from a comp that finished last August! So - maybe you have won but it has just not arrived yet.:money:

Comping is like a little hobby , i think some people take it way to serious and expect to be winning all the time , but its just like a lucky dip , I do it when i ahve nothing else to do , if i win great , if i dont , well theres always another time,

With my winnings in y signature , i ahd no wins for 8 months then this thread started and i still had no wins but have had 5 wins in this last month ,

So to everyone who enters good luck and have fun , thats what it is all about, if you dont enjoy it just because you dont win , the to be honest don't do it
Dont forget that little Thanks button , only takes a sec

See, there is liking Eurovision and total Eurovision obsession which is what I suffer from :D. I own every single contest on DVD (except the 2 which aren't available).
I'm finding it hard at the moment trying to divide what little free time I have between comping and following the Eurovision semi-final rehearsals. Now THAT makes me sound really really sad :rotfl:.
