LOL I also have a co-op nearby, opened a couple of years ago. I won't even go into it because I know they are more expensive than other stores. I;'m lucky to be in a well served London area so I have all stores nearby, including a Morrisons but I'm not to keen on their quality especially meat. I tend to use the large Tesco and the Asda.

The CO-OP has recently been refurbished, looks very smart inside but as we have both found... it is expensive!

Thinking about what I have actually bought in the CO-OP... bread, milk, pasta sauce and fresh baked rolls. I bet the Tesco Express will be around the same price so my real gain is being able to walk 3min for this stuff!

Tesco seems to monitor new Express stores for profitability and closes those that don't make (enough???) money.

This new one is certainly not surrounded by enough houses to make vast amount of money! What it does having going for it is it will be just off a busy A road, so anyone passing can pop in quickly too!

I guess we could expect an increase in traffic levels. Thankfully however the store will be to the right and I live on the left! I wonder what the houses closer by think.....!

The difference from superstore to express is 4%, because you're paying for "convenience" :]

A Tesco Express opened in my neighborhood last year and we use it every day, papers/milk, if I've forgotten anything in my big shop, we find it really useful. Vast improvement on the local shop which was there before, who overcharged for everything and fresh food often looked past it's best. TE don't have value range products but do have BOGOF offers most weeks, and I spend less there if I'm only popping out for one item unlike when I go to the large store where I'll always end up putting in more than I need. The staff are really friendly too.
