The bank of Cyprus are quite good. I requested that they send me an application about hte bond but instead they opened one and there was no ID required which is really good.
I have a problem now. I have the right sort-code and account number but I made an error as they have a long customer number. What is going to happen to the money as it has been transfered by BACS but contains one or 2 errors in the customer number one. I only noticed that as the customer number was the reference when transferring the money.

Firstly - why is it really good that they needed no ID?
Have you called them to see what they say?
If the sort code and account number relates to an existing account and it lands there and the person withdraws the money and closes their account you have a long struggle.
It is more likely the transfer will bounce back0 -
I think you misunderstood. Bank of Cyprus UK has an account where all bond deposits from everyone goes to. It is a general sort code and account number. They keep everyone's money in the same account. I spoke to them but did not get very far as there was a communication problem and it all got confused mind you it was not entirely their fault.
I know I have the right sort code and account number as I checked online. It is just that I don't have the right reference number. I don't put in a lot of money on first transfers to avoid things like this. I only put in £10.
The service is really good.0 -
So what's your point? Do you want advice on something - you seem to have answered your queries yourself already....0

I just wanted to know what was going to happen to the funds as I made a few mistakes on the reference number? It has gone into the right account along with all the other customers and their bond money.0

No

It is one of the best banks that I have come across I got a letter today. There appears to be no problems. They do everything ahead of time and even a mistake in the reference number does not cause any problems.0

I got a letter today asking me for certified ID. The thing is they have accepted my money and have confirmed this and also the letter did not contain a reference number or anything just my name and address.0

Why do you keep going on about the ID part - firstly you said it was good they did not want ID - now you mention they want ID.
What exactly is it you are trying to hide?0 -
Is there interest better then iceland0

I am not trying to hide anything. I just don't understand why they would send a letter asking for ID after accepting my deposit for the bond.
The interest is quite good. Here is a link to the page http://www.bankofcyprus.co.uk/main.asp?id=6185 not sure how it compares to Iceland though. Why do you keep going on about the ID part - firstly you said it was good they did not want ID - now you mention they want ID.
