I work away from home a lot and need internet access. Wifi still looks a bit limited as I'll be spending a lot of time in a motorhome on campsites. It's looking like GPRS/3G datacard is the most viable solution. Where can I get the best deal? I would preferably like unlimited download capacity but I don't know if that's available.

have a look around this forum for O2 GPRS ... some people managed to get it free, even on PAYG. Contract wise I think I noticed somewhere on O2 that GPRS is free until further notice which is good and bad because they can pull the plug whenever they want.0

The so-called unlimited 3g data contacts (1 GB fair use) cost about £50 a month, and lower tariffs start from no monthly fee but fairly expensive per MB use.
This dealer seems to have all the networks' cards and contracts. The tariff looks the same, but they bundle in the card cheaper than the network would direct. There will be plenty of other dealers, but I think the presentation of the info here is good.

Other than actually getting a plug-in card, you could use a Bluetooth or cable link to a phone, either 3g or gprs; I'm a beginner at this (last Sunday) so others can expand on this.
There seem to be a variety of data bundle options for occasional/starter use on both contract and payg, and perhaps people will post details here, although there are some threads you could find with a search.
The option that the previous poster mentioned on O2 contract has 5MB as a welcome allowance and it isn't quite clear yet how long this lasts or when renewed. Orange has an unlimited £1 per day option on payg, but I'd like to see someone explicitly say that they have used this for more than just Orange World facilities. Let's hope people will add details of others ...
You could also think about installing the Onspeed compression/acclerator product on the PC to reduce the bandwidth used.0 -
Thanks guys. I'll investigate0
