                    Hi,
I have a BT line and only pay for line rental only. I never use the landline apart from for Internet. I pay around £9-10 per month.
My friend is trying to get the same deal but they say that BT Option 1 is the cheapest option at £11 per month. Are they lying or have they change their plans.
I remember I had to argue to get line rental only when I took the line, anyone else had similar issues? Are BT misselling their products?

I think if you check your bill you will find that you too are paying £11 per month if paying by DD, this is the cheapest option for line rental only.
It went from £10.50 to £11 in January.

A quarterly bill for a residential line which is paid by DD will show £28.07 for the line rental (which, with VAT added, is £33).Edinburghlass wrote:I think if you check your bill you will find that you too are paying £11 per month if paying by DD, this is the cheapest option for line rental only.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Why on earth would they want to do that?0 -
When I said misselling I meant misleading.
For example, they tell you they don't have a line rental only for £9 something, so you have to buy the BT option 1 for £11.
I'm definitely not paying anymore than £9-10 per month inc VAT.0 -
Ar you on the LUS (Light user scheme)money.....gimmie gimmie gimmie!!!!0

I'm not sure. All I told them when order the line was that I didn't want any type of package at all, as never use the landline. I'll check my bill to see if it says anything else on it.

I did not suggest that you did.I was pointing out that if you had BB you would not be allowed on BT light user scheme.
What was the Total Rental you paid in last quarter. What BT option are you on, it should be on first page of BT bill.PF.0 -

If you can't get a cable broadband you have to use a BT line no matter who your broadband supplier is.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4
