Bt broadband

Have just seen an advertisement about bt broadband which includes antivirus software etc. In that case, does this means if I take bt broadband, I could do without my Pc-cillin internet security as I have to buy an update every year at a cost of £20.00. Thanks

    I think you will find on MSE that most users use free anti virus software icon12.gif

    Have a read of this thread in the Techie Board where there are lots of recommendations.

    use a free virus scanner.... I think that 'AVG Free' is the best option out there - every computer I have uses it

    I saw/heard about BT's anti virus package before I signed up. However after I signed (some two months ago), so far I haven't heard anything from them yet.

    Now I use AVG Free edition (Anti virus) and Zonealarm (firewall) and a horde of free anti-spy apps (including MS AntiSpyware, SpywareBlaster, Spybot etc)

    I just checked BT's supposedly free firewall and anti-virus. But it looks like it is not free after all. This cover (titled BT NetProtect) costs £3.50 per month.

    Unless I am missing something I don't understand BT's rationale of advertising free firewall and anti-virus :mad:
