The OP's original purchase had an 8.9" screen so it's not unreasonable to assume that a screen of that size would be considered too large for the intended purpose..

True, although it starts as 7" then to 9", 10", 12" and keeps growing lol

  • Ah, random button pressing is always the best way to find out what happens ;)

The 8.9" screen Eee PC is housed in the same chassis as the 7" screen Eee PC so there's no size difference, only a slight weight difference.

On the Eee PC you can hide the bottom toolbar by clicking on the arrow on the toolbar. The problem isn't having to scroll vertically - you have to do that on all websites such as MSE. The problem with the 7" screen is the fact that you need to scroll horizontally to read what's on the other side of the webpage. If you use solely a trackpad then that really is fiddly - the Eee PC has vertically scrolling built into the trackpad.

If you install opera there is an option to fit pages to the screen width (it occasionally does some odd things but generally works well). I'm at work at the mo but will check how to set it up once i get home.

    Hey everyone,

I recieved my Asus 701 laptop yesterday and I think its really great. had few minor problems with connection but managed to sort it out myself. Also signal strength wise its really good and have no problems picking it up. Overall I think getting the laptop was the best thing. storage wise isn't much of a problem either because am keeping only music and some stuff on it and keeping my main stuff on my main computer.
