    are they both neutered? my friend had a mother and son combo, the mother turned against her son when he was about 5 months old, she then got them both 'done' and lo and behold they stopped fighting (they are not close though).

    Hi there,

    Yes they are both neutered.

    The large majority of the fighting has calmed down now and I think my mind has eased that they are not being vicious with each other.

    I think maybe a lot of it was settling in and getting a bit jealous when one had attention and the other thought he was missing out. They both appear to be settled enough to know now that although one is sat on my lap as soon as that one jumps off the other can jump up and vice versa.

    It must be scary for them being loved pets then being placed in a rescue then coming to a new home...they must wonder what the hell is going on and what they have done wrong.

    Obviously they have done nothing wrong but I bet they thought they had:o
