You aren't helping by going downstairs because she knows that she is getting a reaction by doing it. You can get scratching posts that you can hang on walls so I would get one of those and attach it to the door so she doesn't ruin it, and then get a good set of earplugs.
I did that when ours first started sleeping in the living room after running wild through the flat when we first moved into a rented and after a week when they realised someone (The OH) wasn't going to go running to the living room every time they started meowing at the living room door, they stopped doing it and I could sleep without earplugs.
Now they only start meowing when one of us gets up around half 7 and they know they are going to be fed. It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.0 -
Aah, familiar. The boys have started this month again. Alarm goes off at 7am, they start at the door. Except they're getting earlier. I put it down to the earlier sunrises now...
No reaction is the only way..occasionally "hissing" seems to get the message across (it's what a cat would do). If it's not that then it's a full-on romp through the flat at 90mph and all you can hear is "scrabblescrabblethumpDOINGGGG" as they fail to clear the stairgate...:rotfl:0 -
ive let her out today hoping she gets tired and don't wake me up at stupid o'clock .........watch this space .
yeah maybe i was silly going down to her but it was driving me mad grrrrr !!0 -
has she been neutuered? if so, just ignore me...unneutered cats can appear restless this time of year!0

cats are crepuscular, which means they hunt most at dawn and dusk, so as the sunrise gets earlier so will your cats' wake up time.
Get them a cat flap so they can let themselves out, a scratching post to replace the sofa, and some pet behave spray for your sofas to stop them scratching it.Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Unless you get a cat flap, the only way to stop her training you to let her out when she wants is to ignore her. Easier said than done - mine have me letting them out at 3 in the morning all year round because I didn't ignore their first attempts at getting me up years ago!0

My cats started coming into the bedroom to wake me up at 5:45am last week. After a few mornings ignoring them, they started to get more persistent and jumping on me or scratching the bed clothes next to my face.
I lost the plot yesterday and yelled "Get Out!!!!" in frustration. Three cats zoomed at top speed out of the bedroom and down the stairs.
This morning there was a polite miaow at the side of the bed at 7:30am, to which I put my hand out, stroked the cat and said Good morning, then got up to let them all out (I can imagine a meeting on the stairs this morning where they drew straws for who would be elected to go in and speak to me :rotfl: ).
They have clean litter trays around the house for night-time use and hubby puts food down at 5am on his way out to work, so there's no excuse."carpe that diem"0 -

yes she has been neutuered ..........she scratched a few time since i have said but i am ingnoring her and "touch wood" she is getting the message , she stops soon after and i can go back sleep .
But last night there was a cat outside that clearly wasnt neutuered and made a horrible noise ALL night . The loudest meeeooowwww ive ever heard i thought it was a baby cryin at first haha .woke me up and woke my son up and most the nieghbours i should imagine :rotfl:0 -
My cats do this, though the time varies between 5 am and 7.30 ish. They are indoor cats so it's not like they want to go out, i think they just want attention and feeding. It drove me insane but i bought one of those feed dishes that have a timer on it, i set it for about 6 o'clock now and so far they haven't woken me up since i got it two weeks ago! Just waiting to see how long it lasts now.....;)0
