I do wish people would use the credit union first . One reason it`s there is to keep people away from the door step lenders. The cu is very responsible but fair.
There aren't that many of them about, that's why.

So it's a way for poor people to borrow money?

Yeah I think so. The job description said that the applicant had to collect money from doorsteps and was asking how trustworthy etc applicant was.

    Hope all goes well ThiriftyB.
Any ideas what job are you going to go for next?

I am soon going to be a 'Not an Independent Boutique Owner' ....after 19 years of shop owning + 4 years of market stalls prior to that.

I just sort of sold out ....not creatively but how I sell my products (tho' final decision not fully made due to cashflow) but could be in a If you can't beat them, Join Them Situation very soon.

My excuse is there are sheds on Chesil Beach with my name on them......and a certain amount of compromise on trading will have to be taken on board as I will never get there if I carry on as I am.

I think a lot of peoples job descriptions have changed due to the recession.less people more work load for the ones who are left and they know they're not going to complain cos they're scared of losing their job.I do think some companies are using the recession as an excuse to do this and to freeze pay ,even when doing well as where my DH works

Certainly a more flexible attitude to work. Fewer hours (for less pay) and perhaps 2 main employers rather than just one. A few people I know are resigned to the fact that the likelihood of a sudden pick up in the econmomy is slim. So are reappraisal of what's important in life has been a topic of discussion recently.

Are you going to sell your products within other stores? Did i read somewhere that you are going to sell online?

Hope it all works out for you. I know that you pay lots for rates etc will going down another route make it more profitable for you?

Not sure what to do. Prior to working for OH I worked in a Bank (ha ha). I also worked for the NHS. Cannot do anything until DS goes to school in August as childcare will outstrip what I would earn. In the meantime I am going to keep my fingers crossed that some work may come in to keep us going. Although I have been doing that for a long time now!

Working for someone else and juggling school hols must be a nightmare...especially when the kids get older and complain about going to wherever for the day. I used to get hardly anything done during summer hols, then spend Sept. catching up.
Perhaps something small will come in that will keep your business just ticking over.

I am up to all sorts of stuff....already sell on-line but have used it as a springboard to other things (danger of one customer and all that).
So, have a distributor set up, but only for The North at the mo...plus a possibility of a prominent concession in somewhere very 'busy'.
Also got to sort out some export but we have to be very careful not to overtrade at the mo as, if we do, it will all collapse pretty quickly.

I just want to be able to earn a decent living and keep my freedom of mind...not much to want really :o or is it?

He is still there. He is so optimistic though and thinks he is going to be busy! He has priced loads of work but tbh nothing has come in. He still believes that he will get something. I on the other never like to count my chickens and think he is in for a big shock. We are soon to have no staff at all in the next few weeks and he does not seem alarmed! We are lucky in that we have savings and no mortgage but that will not last forever. Me thinks he is burying his head in the sand.

What about you bo drinker? Did you set up the cleaning driveway business that you were thinking about?
