Not really money saving, more "where has my money gone"! Has anyone else had the same experience as my other half? He started repaying his student loan in 2004, but is still yet to receive a statement for the 2004-2005 tax year and its nearly the end of the next one. Last time he called they said that they still hadn't had the information from his employer  Can anyone offer any advice?

The SLC are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard.
I do everything in writing, because it's a) impossible to get through on the phone most of the time and b) when you do get through they generally try to fob you off anyway0 -
They are rubbish! I havent had a statement in Years.
Good Luck

Bit spooky as me and my friend were talking about this last night.
Anyway, the last one I received was October 2005, and I had to chase up for that one, and hadnt received any previously, told the lady on the phone and she sent out duplicate statements to me.0 -
Thanks for bringing this topic up, it hadn't really registered that I hadn't had a statement for a while even though hubby did a month or so ago. When I did my masters I had to send them back a form saying I was studying that year so wouldn't be paying anything back, but that was 2 years ago and I don't think I've had anything since. I assume that they've assumed I'm still studying (which I am) but you would have thought they'd check!:shhh: There's somewhere you can go and get books to read... for free!

I went travelling and sent them a letter saying I wouldn't be in the country earning money. I returned in October last year and they sent me a form to say how much I was now earning (over £15000) but they still aren't taking anything off my payslip. Can't remeber the last time I saw a statement.0

I got a letter saying they were going to start taking payments last April, but no money has ever come out of my pay check should I be worried, or is this there fault?0

I haven't had a statement since September 2004. Same can be said for many of my friends. Last time I looked, my interest was £34 a month. dare to think what it would bw now. Since I graduated in 2003, I've paid back a total of £184 of a £13/14K (I think anyway) loan.
Chriz1000, normally if they haven't taken it out of your paycheck, your employer needs to be told about it (if you trust Finance that is) and the lovely tax man of course!!:j Take That 23/12/2007:j :dance:0 -

Do you earn over the income threshold (£15k per year)? If you earn less than this no money will go out of your pay cheque. If you earn more then some money should be coming out, I don't think they will ask for any money that should have been paid in previous months but not sure.:shhh: There's somewhere you can go and get books to read... for free!

This post got me thinking, so I checked my payslips, how come the deductions vary from month to month, anyone got any ideas??0

I haven't had a statement about my loan since 2003 and I am due to start repaying it in April so I am interested at what it stands at and how much interest is accruing. It is quite annoying that you can't view your account online.0
