OTOH, I'm not too convinced about the worth or accuracy of the uswitch site.
For example, one of the options my enquiry returned was:
Sky Talk
Talk Off Peak
Free evening and weekend landline calls for no monthly charge
It looked good (as good as Primus Saver Option 2 in fact) until I clicked on the 'more' link and found:
Monthly charges
Talk Off Peak £2.99
Plan benefits
Free UK landline calls during evenings and weekends for £2.99 a month.
So 'no monthly charge' quickly evaporated into '£2.99 per month' and, for me, the credibility of the uswitch website evaporated too.
P.S. I reported that error by e-mail to uswitch last week but they've not bothered to correct it.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Are you locked into a year or more contract with the Primus Freetalk Plus2 for £2.99 and the £5 per month loyalty bonus via Uswitch? Can't find any reference on their website0

Thanks Pricefighter.
I understand that you need to stay with the offer for a year, but can you then change to the Primus Option 2 which offers the same deal for no monthly fee, or are you stuck with paying £2.99 p/mth?0 -

I think that you would be stuck with the U Switch £2.99p a month offer after a year.PF.0 -
If you are presently with TalkTalk and are thinking of leaving them (their phone service is good but the broadband is crap for anything but email and browsing), phone them to cancel the phone service and they will happily price match the above Primus option 3 and beat it substantially. I did this and am happily still with them, but I took the sales person's name and time of the agreement just in case they renage.0

What are TT charging you per month for their option 3 then? Are you now paying for your caller display and 1571 voicemail on top of your line rental or are they giving you this foc?0 -
I was paying £8.49 for TT option 3. This excludes line rental which I still pay to BT (and will always keep it that way) and includes all BT's options like 1571. I don't want to say exactly what I'm paying now as I won't believe it until I get the bill except to say that it's ridiculously cheap. I looked at the Uswitch site and saw that TT seemed to be aware of Primus as they had a tariff which cost not too much more. So I thought I would cancel anyway and see if they would pricematch as Carphonewarehouse do, and lo and behold they did it.0
