    Hi Neil,

Your phone contract is very expensive! I pay just under £19 a month with 02 and have 600 mins and 1200 texts a month and unlimited 02 to 02 calls. You can get it online at 02 and its a one month rolling contract so no long 12 or 18 month contract.

I had a 1.8 at 21 and paid around £600 fully comp insurance so i reckon you could get your insurance even cheaper than what your on now depending on your no claims bonus. Do you use quidco or any other cashback site? They give around £50 cashback on alot of car insurance companies.
Thanks to quidco i only paid £250 for a 2 litre GTI fully comp!:)

First do a search through confused.com write down your best quotes then have a lok on quidco and see how much more you could get back on the best quotes you had. Then buy through quidco.

If your mate doesnt drive and you always have to pick him up. Then the next time he wants to go somewhere and for you to pick him up say you cant afford to unless he can give a little but towards the gas.

I think £200 left over a month is plenty to live on!:)
    Make £5 a day JAN £121/175 FEB £283/175:j
Weekly Grocery budget of £35! Jan £95.05/175 Feb £37.53/175

Let's try and work this out

    Take home pay is £1100

    To pay out is

    £150 mom - rent
    £215 loan - loan
    phone contract - £50
Car insurance - £75 (down from 100 two months ago)
RAC - £11 for me and mom
    Fuel - £80
    = £581

    £1100 - £581 = £519.

£519 is a lot of spare money, what else do you spend it on, how much a month is car tax?

\Your take home pay is the same as mine, but I run a house, pay a mortgage.........

    Hello my lovely,

Definitely get a better deal on the phone. My son is 20 and he keeps an eye on all the deals and when one comes up that's better than what he's got he rings the mobile phone company and demands to know why they aren't giving him such a great deal. He used to have a psycho gf who expected a ton of calls and texts every day, and he always has the latest phones but he's never paid more than £35 a month.

Also check out the meal deals when eating out:
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/cheap-restaurant-deals

Other than that honey it's all about you making choices and being a little bit better organised.

Decide how much services, car maintenance tax and insurance cost you every year. Divide that amount by 12 and pay the same amount into a separate account each month out of the £519 you have spare.

This way hopefully when something comes up you'll already have most of the money saved.

Then decide how much money you want to pay off your overdraft each month and leave that in the bank

Finally divide what's left of the £519 spare money after this into four and that's how much you have to play with each week.

When it's spent stay in or tell your mates you can drive bu they'll have to pay - and that includes a bit of petrol money.

OR Get a p/t job. With no kids or housework to do you must have loads of free time on your hands. ;):D Get a bar job and get chatted up by the ladeez whilst also earning a bit of dosh rather than spending it.

It's all about choices honeybunny. Either you can pay off some debt/ or you can carry on as you are and be in a horrible position by the time you want to get your own place (and be stuck living with your mum until you're 40. ;):D:p )

    Love Jacks xxx :D

We really need to know the full picture - what are the interest rates on you credit card, loan and overdraft? How much has your car cost you in the last year (go through your bank statements)? Therefore how much money have you actually got left at the end of each month, including paying for your car? Have you cut up that credit card/ can you leave the debit card/ cash at home?

TBH i dont know, think the loan is 18%?

£213 a month on a 6500 loan does that sound about right?

I could leave my card at home, and yes i've cut up the credit card!

The car is not a prob really thinking about it, i need it and its just insurance MOT and service all of which i need so i can not do anything about the car or change it, just need to relise i need to quit wasting money!

My overdraft normally charges me like £11 a month? Im no good with %'s really so i tend to ignore them _pale_, i only know what comes out of my bank.

The way i see money and allways have is that is it just "numbers" and not money, need to change my look on it but i dunno how!

Keep a spending diary so you know where you are spending/frittering it away. That will help you, also try keeping a jar or bottle and put your loose change in it - some of us keep £2 jars where we save those pesky £2 coins - they soon mount up and you either bank them or buy something that you really need. Money eases the way for you to do the things that you want and buys the things that you want to buy - no money means that you can't do that. Maybe you could post your full Statement of Affairs and include details of the interest that you pay on your credit cards etc.? I am sure the folks on here will be able to show you how to cut back etc.

No way to tell... it would depend on the length left on the loan :)
    18% apr... OMG!
You say you're putting £100 aside a month through your nan for savings - WHY? WHY WHY WHY WHY????
I can 100% guarantee you that it won't be paying you 18% interest so stop it! Grab anything in that savings account and pay a lump off your loan.
I'm not going to repeat what is said about your car - you've obviously made up your mind :)
BUDGET! How much is your road tax? How much is maintenance a year on the car? Now divide by 12 and put these into a jar or seperate account so you have it ready next time car is due tax etc.

    Mobile - I think it's all been said - £50 is a lot...

socializing: set yourself a budget and stop being the free taxi for everyone. I would say try to manage on £100 - so £25 a week for going out. Think of ways to make this stretch! Like Pizza hut 2 for 1 meals etc then split the bill - viola! Cheap meal!
Stay home, if you want to get drunk then buy booze at Tesco and stay in. MUCH cheaper.
