Well, this time it's gonna get it crushed. If I spend all my time fishing lumps of wood out, I'll know for next time.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -

You can get ground cinnamon. I use the sticks whole like arkonite_babe.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

IT SAID STICKS! CRUSHED!
I have got a hammer though GT
I'm just having a rest...I have just got one more onion to chop before I'm ready to go. No tears so far, so it looks like the fridge / root combo works quite well! :jIf you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Just found this thread a tad too late.
Everyone has said everything I was going to by this point (except that for me, you cant put enough cinnamon in ANY dish).
Have to confess, I too put my onions in the fridge then use the food processor (!). How lazy!
Are you using an American recipe? I only ask because North and South Americans call it cilantro as they tend to just chuck in the coriander leaves, where as Asian cookery uses mixed leaves and root and just call it coriander.
My only (pitiful) contribution is that "garbanzo" is the spanish for chickpeas (another reason to wonder if you were using an American recipe).
PS I frequently find Sainsbury's sell three tins of chickpeas for £1, so I use those. One of my fave lunches is a tin of tuna and a tin of chickpeas mixed.

But I'm doing it OS!
And yes it's an American recipe. :rolleyes:If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
I have got a hammer though GT.
If you want to crush the cinnamom put inside a plastic bag and crush gently. It keeps all the powdered spice together.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I lurrrrvvve cinnamon. I'd eat crushed sticks on toast for brekkie.
However, I have a medical condition which leads to blood sugar imbalances and cinnamon is good for that and also for diabetes. I crave it cos it's good for me.
Also, if you buy herbs/spices at Lidls, the sell by date is a couple of years beyond that of major supermarkets. Is that OS enough or are you growing your own?"Life is like a game of cards.
