Have any of you tried a "LitterKwitter"?
I've two large toms who work their way through catsan quite quickly and like the look of this. saving £240 from the annual shop seems like a great idea to me.0 -
Tesco £5.46, Sainsburys and Waitrose both £4.99 ATM (10 litres).0

I used to use Catsan but it got too expensive I now order Cats Best clumping litter from PetPlanet. It's £24.99 for 40l. We have 2 house cats and 3 litter trays and a 40l bag lasts almost 2 months. We were buying 2 5l bags of the Catsan a week.
We've tried a few different litters but find the Cats Best is the best for stopping stinky odours in the house.0 -

I posted a thread on this a while back, can't find it now, there was a diary of someone trying to train their cat to use it, plus videos, I wish I could find the thread! I don't think it would work tho, the woman in the diary had been trying her cat with it for months and months with no joy!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -

We must be thinking on the same sort of lines. As i ended up buying the same thing from PetPlanet as well & for same price.
As one of my cats (called Ginger and is a large tomcat), can sometimes end up with more catsan out of the litterbox than keeping it in the box & is on a major digging spree. :rolleyes:0 -
I use the wood pellet stuff, great for keeping smells away. I get it for 15l - £2.99 at wilkinsons or 30l - £8 at the local pet shop. Might be worth a go
.
I did have the problem of the cat kicking all the litter out of the tray so I now use a normal plastic crate, she gets in and out, no problem but i guess it might be for older moggies.:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0 -
Just thought I would post again on this thread. I went to Costco yesterday and they re selling 20 litres for £6.70 something (cant quite remember!), so for about a pound more than it's costs for 10 litres in Asda/Tesco etc you could get 20 litres from Costco.
Of course the downside is that Costco costs around £27 to become a member, so unless you're already a member (or can borrow someones card!) this probably wont work out any cheaper!Sometimes you have to go throughthe rain to get to therainbow0 -
Hi, This is part of my MFW diary which might be of use to other cat owners. I currently have 5 cats.... 'My cats eat a small amount (relative to their sheer number!) of Felix (pate and ordinary - has to be fish!) and lots of Science Plan. The latter suits us fine - no waste, no mess etc etc. The Felix is a no brainer - we just stock up when its on offer - keeping a look-out on Fixture Ferret etc - as obviously it has a very long shelf life. And the Science Plan I either get through Zooplus through Rpoints cashback (plus you can earn iPoints too, they give a 5% bulk discount plus there are sometimes other offers around) or PetPlanet through Quidco. This always amazes me. I think Zooplus send this out from Germany and it still works out a lot cheaper getting it delivered to your door, than going to the local vets/pet shop etc. (Obviously I'm feeling a bit guilty about not boosting the UK economy....) Anyway - well worth investigating if you need to buy any sort of pet food like this in bulk.
And despite having a 0.5 acre+ garden, specially for them - yes I know this sounds realllllyy sad but it was pre-kids when the cancer docs thought I would be infertile) we still have to have a cat litter tray. We use the really fine clumpy stuff called 'Premium Choice'. And again, I buy from a company called Pawmark Pet Supplies Ltd and have it delivered. Again, still works out cheaper than anything I can buy locally.'Predicted Net Worth 31/12/2018: -£38,898.03/-£34,616.86Target 31/12/2019: -£25,000Extra Income 2019: £1,500/£732.38Target Weight Loss 2019: -14 LBs/-2.5 LBsAs at 3/4/2019 MFiT-T5 No 490 -
My cats get Tesco Value cat litter at £1.16 per bag, with a couple of handfuls of the Tesco wood pellet based stuff added in for deoderising purposes. I have two adult cats that don't go outside so this is their loo 100% of the time. As long as I scoop the poop regularly this combination lasts for at least four days with no smells.Val.0

I use Asda for about £1.18 a bag, it does tread everywhere so I bought a couple of cheapo door mats so he has to walk over them before he gets in to the kitchen from the back hall. We're lucky to have a spare cloakroom so he has that to himself.
I'm going to try chocdonuty's idea of a normal plastic crate.
I once watched a video of a woman training her cat to go on a human toilet, there was a cat sized gadget to be bought that sat on top of the seat to make it easier at first... :rotfl:0
