Advice needed - reclaim on PPI on Egg Mortgage
Comments
-
Thanks for your help on this. I wouldnt say fraudulent, I'd say I was making sure the PPI provider adhered to the rules !
In the case of Egg, it is a faceless organisation. If it was a local IFA or broker, then the individual that did it could face action (including losing their job) and suffer the costs of your complaint. So, I am personally against complaints where there is no reason. However, all for complaints that do have good reason.Just not sure on what grounds I'd make a claim other than auto opt-in.
The main areas for MPPI are:
1 - single premium is bad - monthly is good
2 - no financial need for it (if you already had income protection of long term sickness benefits)
3 - not eligible for cover (didnt meet employment criteria or had illnesses that prevented major coverage from taking place)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Going to give it a shot on the grounds that I was auto opted in and it wasnt clear I was paying ppi because I was paying a single premium.

It is possible but I suspect it is unlikely.it wasnt clear I was paying ppi because I was paying a single premium
But you said they separated it in six monthly statements.
If you took it out "nearly ten years" ago, then it would be more than nine years since the first notification that PPI was being charged for was sent to you.
That in turn begs the question "why did you not query it in 2002?"0 -

I was young, stupid, never read any statements
The mortgage ran for 5 years and I paid £30+ for nothing. It was a joint mortgage/policy and we both worked so I've no idea why I took it anyhow.
So 5 x 12 x 30 + interest has got be worth a go.0 -
has anyone had any luck with this?0

On what grounds?
I would have thought egg MPPI was monthly premium and also set up on direct offer/execution only basis. So, what would be your reasons for complaint?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). This worked for me, expecting a cheque in the next few days. Didn't need to go to the ombudsman, just had to wait a long time as you can see from the date of my previous posts :j0
