Bt rolling contracts

i have just read somewhere that bt have a rolling contract system which means as soon as the existing contract ends, they automatically tie you into a new one without telling you.
they will only cancel it if you call to tell them, otherwise they are hoping that customers will forget and then have to pay £180 to cancel or stay with them.
can anyone else shed some more light on this? is it true?
my contract is due to end this month, so i better call them to cancel if this is the case.

Result of poorly written article in PCAdvisor based almost entirely on a press release from TalkTalk there is almost no truth in this whatsoever.
Rolling contracts only apply to free evening & weekend calls packages IF you signed up for it.
