I am trying to remove some signwriting from inside our car window - help! It is taking ages to scrape off and leaves a horrible residue. Please could anyone out there advice if I could use white spirits or similar?

Acetone or thinners are your best bet.

Use a hair dryer to gently heat it and soften the adhesive between the lettering and glass.

It should peel away quite easily and any remaining adhesive residue can be removed with white spirit, nail varnish remover, etc.

Heat plus various solvents works. I actually ran a blow torch quickly over some plastic lettering and most of it peeled off. Could be risky though.

hair dryer and then thinners works on everything, i remember i done a full van once, hair dryer to get the stickers off and then lightly rubbed thinners over the gum left over, then polished it all up afterwards, looked as if the decals had never been on it,and they had been there for 5 years.

it should be much easier on windows though.
