I also want to voice my disgust at this repulsive savagery. Violence and murder will not intimidate us British people (British by choice) into your 32 county fascist Republic.
Democracy will win!
Right ive sat here for the last 30minutes just thinking over that comment.
I agree with you that the savagery, violence & murder are wrong and not what we want to see. And i respect that you call yourself British (we live in a country where we have a choice of being Irish or British) But when it comes down to it you'll always be Northern Irish being that u were born on this island. I believe this is the only country out of the UK that the inhabitents call themselves British, you'd never see a welsh or scotsman call themselves that god no.
Some people on this island seem to think being Irish is all about being a Catholic and wanting to be apart of Éire try telling 1000's of Ireland Rugby fans that.
(I was in a bar a few weeks ago watching the Ireland England game and overheard some guy in the toilets on the fone to his mate saying stick a few quid on england mate they are gonna beat those irish !!!!!!!s had to laugh at him)
Anyway dont wana get sidetracked here.
Being Irish or Northern Irish has nothing to do about religions, u dont see protestants from the south calling themselves british do ya??? Regardless of where u were born on this island you'll always be an Irishman/woman.
Your comment about a 32 county fascist Republic is an absolutely ridiculous thing to say.(surely u should have said 26 county Republic????) Do you even know what a Republic is? Did u also not know that Ireland is also a Democracy? I would go as far to say that Ireland is more of a democracy than Britain. You'll find that in our Republic system we vote to elect the head of state ie The President where as in Britain only one person has a say as who becomes the next monarch (would that not be more of a fascist regime if u ask me but i apologise if i anger anyone by that comment). Both states have a democratic parliament.
So i agree with your last line completely Democracy will win!!!
I'll leave u with a great fascist quote from Eoin O'Duffy an Irish national corporatist.
'We must lead the people always; nationally, socially and economically. We must clear up the economic mess and right the glaring social injustices of to-day by the corporative organization of Irish life; but before everything we must give a national lead to our people...The first essential is national unity. We can only have that when the Corporative system is accepted. We shall put our National programme to the people, and it is a programme in which even the most advanced Nationalist can find nothing to disturb him.'
He may have been a Nationalist/Fascist but i couldnt agree more with that statement in light of recent events and the state of the economy today.0 -
I couldn't resist a reply....Pretani obviously likes a bit of plain talking. He seems to have either missed the sentiments expressed earlier in the thread or else he hasn't actually read them. I used some expressions he should be able to understand, right down at his own level.0

pretty disappointed in you Pretani, I think its pretty clear from everyones sentiments that those attacks were an attack on all of us who live in Northern Ireland, not just those of us who consider ourselves at some point British, but definitely Northern Irish, it was an attack on everyones hopes for the future...........Norn Iron Club Member #64

Speaking of being set back 30 years, and for the voice of the majority not wanting a return to violence, tonight in lurgan / portadown / craigavon there is rioting, theres a 'bomb' on the train line and youths are trying to hijack cars, and why? - because the police, with information, have this weekend been performing a series of house searches to gather evidence regard the murder last week of that police man - which they have found by the way so its not random.
No doubt someone will now bleat on about how the police have been 'heavy handed' in sensitive areas to suit their own agendas, but rioting, destroying cars and disrupting train lines doesnt sound to me terribly like 'the majority dont want this anymore'.
So whilst they all lie in their beds tomorrow - either on the dole or for half term break for st patricks day, i like many others will either face a 2 hr journey by bus to work and back (as opposed to 40 mins)
Oh, and the area where they're trying to hijack cars - is in the area where i normally park my car, so i can look forward to that tomorrow night too.
So having an opinion on a forum wont set us back 30 years, but behaviour like we're seeing in the craigavon area over the past few nights (and which probably wont make the news as its best kept under the radar) will.
I don't disagree with all that you've said. I was referring to the other comments trying to go back to the same old lines of "32 county fascist Republic" not your commute time.MFW 148 - Mortgage £121,000 1Jan11 / Mortgage £120,300 28Jan11 / £119,808 24Feb11 / £119,400 22 April11 / £119,089 29 May11 / £118,500 October110 -

You say this as if the security forces don't know who they are... I'm sure they do... but being a democracy they need a thing called evidence!!
As for those young ones causing havoc in Lurgan & Craigavon. Talk about getting involved in something they know nothing about!! They are being used like puppets to ensite hatred. Being drawn into something that is being glamourised to them by Criminals.. People say they should be caused Terorists but I firmly believe they are just criminals.. They are not fighing for a cause, they are just criminals trying to control the area's they reside in so they can ensite fear into the local community. I feel sorry for them more than anything. they must have pretty empty worthless lives.. The fact that the policeman was Catholic shows they have no repect for any religion. They will not gain anything from this but a backlash from decent people within these communities.0 -
My thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of the 2 Soldiers and the Policeman, I wish a speedy recovery for the 2 others injured as well.
As for one of the comments on this thread, Catch yourself on mate or go back to the 70's where you belong:rolleyes:I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -

Oh yes, go and do your bit for the loyalist cause because they would never indulge in that type of behaviour at all.
I am Northern Irish and proud of it.Norn Iron Club member 273:beer:0 -
If any of you read the irish news you might have seen this letter printed in it on thursday and again on saturday, it sums up the feeling of many people out there i believeThanks to the abhorrent attacks in the past few days by those claiming to be the IRA, we republicans have had to reevaluate our credentials.
A united Ireland remains our dream but we are prepared to attain it by peaceful means.
Sunningdale was a long time ago in a different world – republicans were not welcome and unionists had not began to appreciate and accept nationalist grievances.
It took more than 20 years for a deal fit for all to be negotiated, and now mindless thugs wish to throw that all away.
No republican suggests that partitionist parliaments and power-sharing with the DUP are ideal but, as it stands, that is the best we can hope for.
As it stands, these thugs must be prepared to stand alone, without support or funding, against a more united people than ever before,Catholic and Protestant.
The Irish have gone through a lot and the jumped up aggression of a micro-minority will not waiver their desire to live in peace.
I was a republican and I remain a republican.
But I ask the people who killed two English soldiers and an Irish police officer what they are because it certainly isn't what I am, nor what the communities who have been traumatised by the past few days are.
The people of Ireland stood resolute on Sunday, cross-denominational services took place in open defiance of your threats, and long may they continue to do so.
We will achieve a united Ireland, not you.0
