Home Intruder Alarm - help please

Hi,
My home alarm system is the Scantronic 808 which was already installed when I bought my house.
I removed the cover of the Control Box/End Station (located in one of the bedrooms) whilst checking some power cabling routes without realising that by opening the cover, it would raise the internal alarm. I did put the cover on again quickly and silenced the alarm by using my access code.
Here are the "User Guide" and "Installation and User guide":
http://www.alarmsbc.com/pdf/808_user.pdf
http://www.securitycentres.co.uk/Manuals/808.pdf
I only have the original "User Guide" manual at home but that tells me if I want an Engineer Reset, I have to enter the access code, presss ENTER and then the panel would display "CALL ENGINEER" - not what I want to do. The other pdf has more detail.
The situation now is that the keypad panel now has the message "END STN TAMPER" and I'm unsure what I need to do to get the alarm system operational again. I think I saw other error message when the alarm went off but can't remember what it said.
Looking through the User guide, I see that I could easily do the Engineer Reset (page 16) but my worries are:-
- will my access code still work afterwards?
- if this does not work, will it cause any other problem?
- will the zones need to be done again?
- would I need to do the First and Second Stage Reset (page 17) aswell?
Ideally, I would like to system back to normal but without erasing my access code.
I hope someone can advice and re-assure me what I need to do, whether I can try one or all of the above procedures without causing further problems and then end up calling out an engineer, which I can't afford at the moment. I want to make my property safe again.
Thank you.

Put your code in again and press the 'tick' key and it will reset.

Hi Ben,
What do you mean by the 'tick' key?
I was expecting to fnd this key on the panel but there isn't one. I just checked and the panel is the 930 type.
When you say it will 'reset', do you mean back to normal and hence the system will be useable again?
Thanks a lot.0 -
Sorry,i mean there should be an ENTER key,on some Scantronis panels it is a tick.
If you enter your code and press enter the alarm will go back to 'normal' mode and you can use it again.
Check page 11 of the first link you posted up about resetting.
HTH.

Hi again Ben,
Thanks for the clarification. I will try this out during the day this week and let you know how I get on.

Hi,
I tried it...
Entered my access code
Then pressed the ENTER key
Got message CALL ENGINEER
Then it change to message END STN TAMPER
....so this does not apear to have worked.
What can I try next?
In the second document, can I try anything from pages 16 & 17?
Thanks0 -
You have not put the lid of the end station back properly, check it again and make sure the tamper switch 'clicks' when you put it back on.Then do the reset and it should be ok.
Let me know.

Hi Ben,
OK. I don't recall what the tamper switch looks like because when the box was initially opened, the internal alarm sounded and I just put it straight back in a panic, without looking. The lid looked like it was seated normally.
I will try your method (I assume it's only the internal alarm that sounds and not the outside) and take a closer look at the tamper switch.
Will I still hear the lid "click" over the sound of the internal alarm?
Any diagrams / links to what this switch looks like and where it will be located within the end station/control box?
I'll update you as soon as I've checked.
Thanks again.0 -
Ok,take the lid off and the alarm will go off internally only.Leave it off and enter your code to stop the noise.Check out the picture on the first page of the link below
http://www.securitycentres.co.uk/Manuals/808.pdf
The tamper switch is at the top of the box in the cut out.
Replace the lid making sure the switch clicks and then screw back up.
Enter your code again and press enter, this should now be ok
Let me know how you get on.

Hi Ben,
I have followed your exact procedure but it did not return the system back to normal.
Once the lid was off, the internal alrm sounded, I keyed my access number. I saw these message:
SYS DIS RST REQ, then
it displayed the date/time, then
back to CALL ENGINEER, then
END STN TAMPER (it's in this state at the moment).
I definitely heard the click on the micro-switch as the lid was closed and it has been secured in place with the two screws.
I've taken some pics of the box and various parts but not sure how to insert them here as it's jpg format.
What can I try now?
I appreciate your help with this.

Hi,the only thing i can think of is the alarm is set up for engineer reset, meaning a customer cannot reset the system. This is an option when setting up the system. Is the alarm maintained by anyone? It might need an engineer visit im afraid.
