family monthly and PAYG offers
Orange have a 'family' tariff for 2 phones -one contract pay monthly and one PAYG. We have low to medium usage and don't have a UK mobile right now (heads spinning, you can imagine) as it's still cheaper to use an EU PAYG for texts only, even on their roaming rate of 12c per text, than any UK text offer. BUT we're living here and need a pay monthly mobile for my husband and a PAYG for me - for him 200 anytime all network mins (or less) and 100 texts and for me the best option PAYG which looks like should be with the same network as his. Need new phones; mine more basic than his but reliable. Currently using and happy with Sony Ericssons.
Orange has 300 mins and 100 texts on 6 months half price line rental, thereafter about 35 pounds pcm (!) and some "family" offer PAYG if you take them at the same time.
Does anyone know the cheapest 'joint phone' or 'family' offer as we're finding this country frighteningly expensive  (great website, thank you)

heres my fav tarriff informations.
o2 pay as yo go. top up £10.00 gives you 100 minutes anytime anynetwork. you still got £10 in credit, buy a bolton called calls 50 for £7.99 with the credit and you got 150 mins now. you got left some texts of £2.00 which is about 20 texts.
so summary: £10.00 top up = 150 mins x network anytime.
go for orange pay as yo go if you use more minutes during one week than another. just my opinion.
heres a url with more information.
http://www.orange.co.uk/service_plans/payasyougo/extra_costs.html
or if you must have a contract, then go for tmobile's half price rental for life offer.
£14.50 a month for life, as long as you dont upgrade ever i think :P
gives you 300 anytime any network minutes. ****
visit http://www.tmobile.co.uk/
its on the front page.
** what to bear in mind, some pay as you go users such as orange and o2, are reporting that 0845, 0844, 0870 and some other numbers known as national rate numbers, are included in the service.
and other users who are contract, are reporting that those numbers are being charged for. thats to the best of my knowledge.0 -
Thanks Freelance! I'm going to check out the phone prices on O2 and Orange. Better half signed a 18 monther with T mobile for 16.50, but I don't think they allow you to carry unused minutes or texts over do they?
If T Mobile would include 0870 nos in their inclusive minutes, would be worth it. Seems to be most of our phone bill (landline).
