hermum - I've dabbled in growing stuff for the last three years, killed everything for the first two years, but last year, managed to get a few things to nibble on
It's my first year trying out the square foot gardening, AND actually putting some planning into it rather than sow whatever I fancied whenever I fancied and pray!! We have a tiny backyard, so space is very limited. Do you have lots of raised bed in your garden?
Grooming palour? is that for dogs or bigger animals? If you do cats, I will be the first customer in line, as one of my cat will not let anyone brush her belly (and she's a long hair).
I absolutely adore homestead in the city, here's the link: http://urbanhomestead.org/journal
mambury - I'm the opposite, I think I'm ready to marry my OH after seeing how he built my raised beds from wood on a slope0 -
I'm not really here
Still, after 5 years, back garden conversion to fruit and veg growing should be finished tomorrow!!!. Just got to finish off storage area bases and move shed.
Cheating on the very front garden as my back isnt holding out too well so using a landscape gardener to rebuild walls, make new paths so we can get 4 fruit trees in before weather warms. Will go for 2 more apples and 2 pears.
So thats it then, another 2-3 weeks and its all done bar the annual growing and tree maturing.
Its great to see the existing trees start to produce and know that the harvest year on year will get better (fingers crossed)0 -
mee too...
I might not post often, but I do check up on you all....so behave!! Or I will set Davesnave after you !
I'm in no fit state! I'm here in spirit, but after a couple of ladder sessions, pruning my apple trees, I'm crocked. This is what happens as soon as the weather picks-up; we go out and wear ourselves out, so that we're too tired to post.:(
Hermum, you are right; there are a few people not posting here now, like Tibbie's Mum and Mrs Micawber, so it would be good to hear again from them. I am working on a Blog, but it is taking me a little time, as the first effort went wrong and I'm going to start again.
See you folks again when I can stop yawning!0 -
Hi People, you must have been alurking, glad that you are still around & good that you've been too busy to post.
Pink I've just had a look at that link, they produce one heck of a lot for the plot size, I love the look of the kitchen. Will have to read through it when I can.
Dave I guess that you're going full steam now when we have a nice day.
See everyone soon.0 -

I have dreamed of owning some land, keeping chooks, growing my own food and being more self sufficient.
Now I own my own land, have chickens, grow my own fruit and veg and live on a very tight budget.
No, I am not in rural England living off a stack of money.
I bought an ex council house in what the local government describes as "a most deprived community".
I have a big back garden that has fruit trees, veg plots and my chooks.
I sit out there in the warmer weather and enjoy living the simple life.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

Well done for making your dream come true, might not have been your dream loaction but the rest of it's there. At least you have street lights & possibly public transport that you may not have in a rural setting.0

Hi
I'm still here too!! Been hanging around the frugal challenge thread as it went very quiet here over the winter, lolI do nip over from time to time to see what's happening. Not been out in my garden for months as weather been so awful, but hopefully sun will stay out this week and I'll finally get some prep done. I'd really like to have a small holding but trying to come up with a viable business idea first, having no idea how much it realistically costs to keep livestock and profits or not on veg/flowers/herbs!!! Thinking of a camping field maybe?? Anyhoo have to live with my tiny backyard for now....
Will try to post more often.
