Any thoughts all? I bought two very large pots in a nice petrol blue colour ages ago coz they were only £8 the pair in a charity shop. I have them stored in the wee caravan aka OH's office! I would like to use them either side of the front door when ever I happen to get one of those..... What should I plant - I always kinda fancied a twisted sycamore - you know where you get a sapling and twist it around a pole - or possibly clipped laurel - any other ideas?

are they winter safe? If not I think you have more leeway...you can put something summery in them and swap to something ever green in winter....

increasingly I'm seeing (or rather smelling) the value in scented things...special around doors/windows.

I wouldn't leave them out over our Winters as they're too special.

HOW ABOUT bay. IF YOU GET 2/3 SAPLINGS AND START TO TWIST THE STEMS YOU COULD HAVE A LOVELY PAIR OF STANDARD BAYS [excuse capitals, only just spotted it and cant be arsed to rewrite !!] to continue...they would be hardy ?in your neck of the woods maybe ? and always look nice by a front door...
