today i was selling at a carbootsale [thats still running] about 18 miles away. i left at 6.45am and got there at 8pm !!:o thick thick fog across the forest ... cant remember it so dense... had 2 herd of deer go in front of me so i crawled all the way. yesterday a [wealthy] friend let me empty her garage full of stuff stored in aid of my "vet bill" fund..i had to almost bite my own hand off not to keep it all...:o BUT i made over £140 so thats a 1/4 paid[i did keep a few bits tho
...well ... i kept an amazing 1960s lamp ,it stands about 4ft from the floor, has a speckled glass big base ,looks like pottery but the base lights up as well as the lamp which has a 2ft tall tubular shade...very retro. its on my landing as we speak

Yes!!! Amazing you! Let me know how much.
Vet bills are dreadful aren't they? Dog-dog's leg really was a shocker this summer. She's in season now (they both are) and big dog will be spayed after this one, but I still can't decide what to do about dog-dog. while I couldn't have coped with a winter litter, next time would be perfect timing, and though you never make much, she might be able to contribute back to the vet's bill a little.I dunno. I'd only do it if the breeder she came from knew she had good known buyers for them...and I think she's got some exciting litters planned herself next year.

Re pups... when i moved here [bearing in mind it was an empty derelict shell , my lab was in pup ! i moved in 1st may, she gave birth to 11 pups [like shelling peas] on the 25th may. it was a bit chaotic but i LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it !! i thought if the house is a bit [lot] s**t then pups everywhere wont make much difference. it was 1st litter id ever bred so was as green as grass and had her vet checked during pregnancy, vet out after birth ,check pups etc... cost me the equivelant of half the litter !![visitors were bringing jumbo boxes of weetabix as presents !!] 2yrs later she had another litter, no faffing around, let nature take its course and she had 7. whilst i dont advocate ignoring them totally but animals "do it" naturally [giving birth] so my only advice is to go by your instincts NOT "the book"....0

Its not cheap having pups, at all, I can quite believe it cost half the litter in vets fees. I'm reasonably used to whelping puppies, and its a lovely thing, also cruel at times, but if you make a profit its a bonus. I'd be getting my stud in a swap for a pup and wouldn't even be considering it if dog -dog were not exceptional. I'm looking forward, atm, to having them BOTH spayed. Its a messy and frustrating business having entire females in season.0 -

She's here again now, so it will be an evening of catching-up....but probably not with me!
We have one of those infernal machines that automatically records all the TV progs that would otherwise be missed ........
DW hates leaving home, but ATM it's a matter of duty.0 -

Can a newbie slip in & say "Hi".
I sort of qualify as we made our daydream come true about 25 years ago. We've now reached the age where we want to downsize but it's not exactly the best time to be trying to sell up & moving on.0 -

When it comes to selling-up, the viability of any move depends largely on where the property is and where/what the owners hope to move to. I've seen at first-hand people struggling to make a return from West Wales to the South/South East.
Also, the word 'downsize' can mean more than one thing. For example, if we moved to a 3 bed place with, say, 1.25 acres, that would be downsizing, but it wouldn't necessarily be cheaper. I look at houses with nice big gardens close to where we used to live .....and we can't afford them!0 -
True, Dave.
Downsizing for us means no land & a much smaller property. That may well not mean downpricing, although hopefully there'll be some left in the pot for the pension. It's for another lifestyle change.
We're not too far from you, I think. "Little Switzerland".0
