SG's are the bestest hens in the whole world - especially mine.

The orp chicks are looking pretty groovey - really cute pies. The colours are superb - 4 buffs - teddies & 4 lavenders - really look the colour of the inner border of this reply box. Like Dame Edna Everidge's hair. The blacks are lavender & black orp X's mainly black with lighter flecks. What a weight when you pick them up - only 6 weeks old. Poor things the midgies are so bad but they seem able & really excited to be out side - they're in their house now obviously but I had to lift them in as they were wanting to stay out even though they were being eaten ( as I was ).

Hey I'm 63 today! Lovely day with DD2 + twins and OH's Mum + friend came for nibbles for lunch. Once the young-uns had gone us older "grownups" split a bottle of Taittinger while sitting in (admittedly rather weak) sunshine in the garden. Watched the birds and set the world to rights! Gotta get to bed soon as OH is falling asleep in a straight back dining chair! Oh, my prezzy from OH will be a lawn edger when we know we'll be around to get the parcel as everything's a bit in the air at present. Lots of shopping to do this week and Monday morning. Eeeek!

    Belated happy birthday Maggie!!

Got back yesterday from a short break to Chester & Wrexham and stayed in a hotel for first time in 2 years :)

Back to normal on way back, dropped into a recycling centre and picked up a few bits and pieces, next door was a joiners and got a good deal on 3 large bags of offcuts.

Good for you rhiwfield - getting pepared for Winter. We seem to have some off cuts fromhouse build, but OH designed house with length sizes - standard plank sizes if that makes sense - so little wastage, but still obviously there is some put aside for colder nights. And it is definately slipping fast into Autumn here. Swallows were starting to line up on the fence yesterday as I was thistleing.

    hi all.....can i have a birthday cake too????:hello:

twas my 5* birthday last sunday......:o

anyway i HAVE A PLAN !! re RUBY the naughty hoss. i am going to put her in the strip field alone and she will be able to see minis one side and barney the other. the fields now all meet in the corner into a sort of coralle [cant spell it but like a big pen] my plan is to let her into the "coralle" to eat her feed with me holding the bucket. so she only gets feed if she comes to me,eventually becoming more dependant on me rather than playing games where SHE'S the boss. once i get a headcollar back on i will hopefully catch her easier. we are setting aside an area as a schooling ring so i can start lunging her to 1} get more control and 2} wear her out a bit....:D

she will probably display major hissy fits to start with but she is like a mature 14hh mare to look at and she's only a year old.... so i have to gain control quickly...

also where my friend has purchased an 11 acre wood we are taking two minis there to haul out some fallen wood...well thats the "good" idea but we will see !!:rotfl:

dora and flo's hooves are so much better now. dora's running about now whereas she could hardly walk at one stage [albeit she does have a slight leg/bone problem rather than hoof]...good vet and good farrier !:T

anyway im off to get some shopping...absolutely zilch in my fridge and im hungry !!:D

Choille, thanks for the reminder. Build nx door is almost finished so I went round and was given a lot of offcuts from the skip, with more due tomorrow. Where we used to get our wood, prices per cubic metre are now an eye watering £125!!:eek::eek:. Will soon make woodburner a luxury :(

Also tried some local joiners for offcuts but no success, either the boss is using them or the workshop for their woodburner. Still, broke up and de-nailed 3 pallets with 6 to go.
