Aching and a bit damp! Just helped to part rake the meadow, turnout down so job not finished. Wind is blowing straight in from the sea carrying the odd squally shower. It snapped one of the apple supports in half last night, luckily with no damage to the apple tree - a job for tomorrow.
Ground is too wet to carry on with the raised bed construction so yet another delay. If the weather is dry will need to get coolglass off greenhouse and disinfect inside
Re Ebay, have used it frequently in the past but the current strike would make posting stuff awkward. Recently did several car boot stints to get rid of clutter and make a few bob..worked pretty well and has paid for materials for this years work.
EDIT, btw my collection of toilet roll inners now totals 58, is this a record?
didnt know there was a challenge on for loo roll inners:rotfl: 58 sounds good to me, but i am sure you could get a few more ....lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Rhiwfield I have yet to count my toilet rolls so you may have competition!
In relation to e-bay I have listed loads of items and hardly any of them sell, don't know if it is what I am trying to sell but on occasions it has ended up costing my listing prices with no sale. I have taken to putting things on Gumtree or just giving them away on freecycle.
My plans for the greenhouse have been put on hold as the weather is too wild to even think about venturing down the garden! Going to do some DIY instead!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Yes =- the ebay thing seems to be a bit either good for some & not others.
OH's brother does really well, but I know others who have had a waste of time.
I will maybe get around to putting something on there some day & see how I do with it.0 -
i have been selling mainly vintage material, and it sells, some for good money some just for the 99p starting price,
i down graded my account from business to private, as i dont sell very often now, and its mainly my private collection;)
it seems as though craft/diy stuff is selling well,
also old bits of furniture shabby chic'd up...
dont forget if you are a private seller any listings that you put on that starts at 99p are free to list. but you have to make sure if it does sell at 99p that you ocver the fvf and paypal costs.
hoping to have another £5 from slice the pie by tomorrow, as i am reviewing tracks alot while i am having my cuppa break...lol...Work to live= not live to work0 -
Hey all,
I don't post very often but decided that I'm going to make more effort.
Been following this thread from the beginning and has been very inspirational. I don't have a fund as such as I'm concentrating on my debts first but am trying to live as much of the dream as I can in current circumstances. dream = living as self sufficently as possible.
I've now given over my tiny flower border over to veggies and have done not too bad this year, tho I think I went for a bit too much variety so had not very much of everything! I think I might concentrate a bit more on fruit instead as it's a bit less labour intensive! I have 2 apple tress in pots and had 2 apples off each lol!
Have put my name down at 3 local allotment sites so hopefully will get an allotment at some point, although I know that the waiting lists are long so may have to wait a while. Have also listed my interest in Landshare but no replies yet.
Anyway enough rambling - will be back soon.

Welcome Jayne it is good to have new ideas and opinions! Your situation sounds very like mine. Once the debts are cleared I will start saving and until then I will do the best with what I have!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Wecome Jayne,
Good luck with the allotment.
Good that you are started on growing veg.
I've jiggered my back which is so annoying as the weather isn't too bad at all just now & there is so much to do - bah.
I'm sort of hobbling about like the hunch back of the Highlands. Goddness it's frustrating.0 -
Choille, sorry to hear about your back, it can be a nightmare. I'm on daily exercises given by the physio to try to prevent lower back muscle tears but was out of action for months this year and its so frustrating as well as incredibly painful.
Hope it gets better soon.0 -
Thanks,
It is frustrating. Sorry you suffer too.
I'm on tramadol which knocks me for 6. I don't like the half dopey effect at all.
But I have so much paper work stuff that I could be doing, yet I'm like a bored child wanting to be outside getting mucky.0 -

Choille, dont know if you've read ring of bright water but there is one section where the author is in bed in hospital and his stomach has filled up with wind to bursting point. Nothing seems to work until after some days........!
Thats what the combination of painkillers, stomach protectors and anti inflammatories does to me.
