CTC is there any way you could get one of the local Councillors on-side on your behalf? I know that one individual can't alter plans which are going to be approved by majority vote, but it would be helpful to have someone on the inside to represent your views.

A buy-out on generous terms would be fantastic, but even if you don't think that's a goer, a decent level of compensation might achieve much the same thing, in the end.:D

Pity you didn't go y'know. People blowing their tops is what's needed here; i.e. lots of publicity, but I can understand if you didn't want to star in it! Maybe the time for that will come; while any publicity will be good for you, Mr Supermarket doesn't want his image tarnished, oh no!:p

Chin up. It's blooming well blowing a gale here too, though I'm seeing what a good hedge does to slow the wind. Thank God we sawed down those trees that were close to the power line though!

Hope it goes okay CTC - You would think that they would of let you know how much compensation they were offering.

It's been a gale here too, but seems to have gone calm now it's dark. Clocks go back tonight - then it'll be an hour earlier dark - how I hate that.

They can do water too!! That is the whole idea.

Water can be heated up to 65 degrees witha calorex unit and about 55-58 with the Ecodan

Air Source Heat Pumps are possibly worth it. They actually take heat from the air, so are more efficient in terms of energy produced to energy consumed.

Shame they can't heat water too. And of course they still require electricity to run, so aren't a proper off grid solution. Still combined with a stove with a back burner, you'd be laughing!

That's interesting. I (obviously) didn't know that. Does it just get plumbed in instead of the boiler then?

I could be tempted by ASHP's at some point. Need to sort my insulation and draughts out 1st!

Sounds a teeny wee bit like a sales pitch, but maybe I'm a cynic.

Not at all. If you look at solar heating and related topics on this forum you will find a raft of stuff relating to dodgy dealing and unsubstantiated promises regarding savings.

It is pretty clear the rip-off, expensive double glazing companies, seeing a lucrative new field, moved into the green energy market a few years back, thus muddying the waters for everyone. I think this poster has admitted elsewhere that he gets a small commission for recommendations. Didn't we all, when it was plastic windows and barge boards, back in the 80s!

No, I'm not implying that this poster is a crook; I don't think he is. It's just caveat emptor when it comes to anything in this line.;)

Good Morning! Last night was scarily wild weather wise so today I am going to go out and assess the damage. Need to get the greenhouse cleaned up for the winter, there is just so much to do!
Taking responsibility one penny at a time!
  • hope you all put your clocks back last night...

it was a wild day yesturday and even wilder last night:eek: havent been outside yet ( sent kids out to let the ducks and chickens out:rotfl:) but i should imagine we have more slates missing now...

hope the weather isnt like this next weekend, as its the carboot sale and the farm auction again, and i have another huge pile of clothes and boots to sell,

i am ummming and arrrring to list a few things on ebay, but with another 2/3 day strike for next week, i dont know what they will do in future weeks if nothing is sorted..

might go and see if i have any heavier fabric etc, so it can go by courier insted of RM ... so then the postage price wouldnt much different...

If i dont list today, then at least i would have found a courier for further weeks....lol...

I've never put anything on ebay, but I should to get rid of clutter out of the shed & to raise some much needed money.
I keep going into a charity warehouse when we go away for our big shop & buy 'bargains', really stuff we don't need, but seems like a really good buy.

Aching and a bit damp! Just helped to part rake the meadow, turnout down so job not finished. Wind is blowing straight in from the sea carrying the odd squally shower. It snapped one of the apple supports in half last night, luckily with no damage to the apple tree - a job for tomorrow.

Ground is too wet to carry on with the raised bed construction so yet another delay. If the weather is dry will need to get coolglass off greenhouse and disinfect inside

Re Ebay, have used it frequently in the past but the current strike would make posting stuff awkward. Recently did several car boot stints to get rid of clutter and make a few bob..worked pretty well and has paid for materials for this years work.

EDIT, btw my collection of toilet roll inners now totals 58, is this a record? :D
