Lower rainfall than in Rome here in S.Essex = lots of lizards and snakes (adders) though the chorus of grass hoppers and the glow worms have not put in an appearance yet this year.0

alfie lasagne keeps brillantly, I'll serve it from the fridge for three or four days. And of course it freezes, and makes handy meals for one frozen in portions.
I love these geese. They herded in for just me this evening. I adore the ''slap slap slap slap'' of their feet on the yard. Its puppy-kitten cute. I realise its a bit insane to walk in behind geese grinning insanly and the cuteness of their feet slapping, but, well, that is how it is!0 -
Just chuckling at Alfie's van seat and Lir's goose step
Ebay continues to throw up surprises, just when you think the buyers have gone on strike you sell something at a huge relative mark-up. Seems that overall sales are depressed but list the item that 2 or more really want....
Fungal diseases in the garden this year are really bad. After the blighted spuds we've got rust on the garlic and the foliage on the main crop onions aint too good either
Blanched and froze the last of the broad beans, will put the chooks on the bed to tidy up.0 -

Well, it's beginning to look as if the two **stralorps will make a goodish recovery, as neither is sneezing, rasping or gurgling now. They are such pleasant birds; very gentle and quiet, devoted to each other and apparently content within the confines of Peccadilly Circus.
Over on a chicken forum I've been advised to cull both birds and start afresh, but I can't bring myself to do that to these brave little souls.:(
So, we've decided, we shall give the two hens away to a family who want a couple of backyard chickens. Care will be needed in placing the ad though, and vetting whoever responds to it.0 -

How much is the trailer going to cost you? At least it is nearer "vendage" than high season. Even in the days of dirt cheap booze cruises the day return price of a car was less than a tenner but the trailer, even a small one in a half empty boat, was £15 because they knew it would not be [STRIKE]buying [/STRIKE] having a free breakfast and buying some duty frees.;)
I love driving through France, usually on the free roads - motorways are horrible in England and expensive in France. Fond memories of getting the early hours of the morning cheapest crossing, the one to Boulogne. The car park would have been full of caravans waking up the kids. [Chatted up the booking in clerk and managed to get a little perk - I was allowed as the first on in the double height deck making me first off - no need to overtake 20 swaying caravans in the first few hours, then not daring to stop and buy a pic nic lunch :rotfl:]
Mind you the whole experience was more attractive when the Pound Sterling was a petro-currency and the Euro was worth 59p.
I've heard of something like "mourvorn" but I'm not sure I know where it is.:D0 -
