Shame I'm old and knackered with a family :D

    You & me, both!

Seriously, I mustn't whinge. It's just that I expected to either have a house to do up, or land to sort, or a nursery garden to create, but somehow I've ended-up with all three to do at the same time. That wouldn't matter to a younger chap, but it will take years, and at my age (60) I get impatient, which is silly.:o

I have to stop and remember that my Dad still had 35 years of life left in him when he collected his bus pass!
  • just nipt out of work for 5 mins to have a cuppa in peace and to check on the old ducks and chooks, as its quite warm down here...

Davesnave... you are sooo right i am extremely lucky that i was putting money to one side.. at the end of the day what ever profit after expensives etc is my money anyway, so i just look at it in a way, that by using my savings money to pay off one of the loans by christmas, this will save the business £154 per month... then i am going to give myself another 6 - months to pay off hte other van loan.. which will save another £160 odd,

the way i look at it Dave, is that in reality its my business that is going to be the main money behind any land/ smallholding i might be able to buy in the future, so i want to look after it, and ease any pressure it might have either due to the current climate/ cashflow or what ever....

pitty we didnt live closer i could have rented a field or two off you:D

Good afternoon all and what a lovely afternoon it is up here!

Apologies for not being on in absolutely ages - theres been loads going on here!

DH came back from his holiday in quite good form but thats all done now! He is doing a one day a week college course (1 day a week for 2 years) to get his HNC in architecture. I feel for him because he has to go in a half hour early to psyche himself up to go to class as he gets nervous in crowds. So he comes home all stressed out, but he's not giving up which i'm proud of.

And I go to college too now!! I decided to grab the bull by the horns and go for my masters degree!!! I have a BA in business admin but decided to go for a masters in Highlands and Islands Literature so I have to do a bridging unit to give me a heads up! But have had 2 seminars so far and I think I'm really going to enjoy it (just hope my brain holds out). So I'm doing it part time over 2 years. I think doing it in one year would just be too much with all the other stuff!

    So now I'm a student!!!!

Garden wise not much has really happened! There was a fire down the road a couple of weeks ago and there was a concern about asbestos but its all okay now! We managed to earth up a pan's worth of potatoes which I was soooo proud of, and they tasted delicious!!!

Hubby is off to do more to the garden this week, and he has been skip diving as well! He came home with a load of wood which he plans to use for decking!

I'm off on wednesday to pick up my motability car and our other car is going back to the finance company!!! They are wiping the debt so thats half our debts disappeared!!!! Unfortunately we have to wait for it to come back from the garage as an idiot from the SSPCA hit the side of the car so its off getting fixed!

Hubby and kids are going to be busy tomorrow painting the kids summerhouse so that should be fun!!!! as long as they keep their mess in their corner of the garden i'm not bothered!!!!

And I'm phoning the council on Monday to have a rant! My next door neighbour got a lovely new kitchen put in and all her wiring updated, and I got told I wasnt getting one. So now I find out that 2 doors down has deliberately damaged her kitchen and she;s getting a new one on Monday!!! So am off to the council to tell them I want a new one!!!!! And I won't be taking no for an answer!

So thats about all thats happening here at the moment. Hope you are all well and feeling good. Take care and I promise not to be a stranger for too long xxxx

The weather here has been pants today!!! But hubby has managed to fix and fit a small gate to break up from the front garden to the side/back of the house. Might stop the kid from a couple of doors down waltzing into my back garden and helping himself to stuff!!! It was only a few strawberries but its the principle of the thing!!!

The gate arrived yesterday along with some pallets that hubby picked up at the council tip when he was dropping off some rubbish!!! And today he managed to get some fence posts from freecycle. Now all the gate needs is a lick of paint and it will look lovely.

And thanks to the last couple of days being nice my laundry mountain is a little smaller, although the mountain of clean clothes waiting to be ironed and put away has grown considerably!!! So off to do some more and hope that tomorrow is a good day!

Hope you are all well xxxxx

Evening all! Well the weather wasnt great today but hubby got off his behind and started digging up the garden. Well its the patch he wants to put the decking on! But the only downside is that our garden rubbish bin (that doesnt get emptied till next thursday!) is now full and our next door's one is half full! Going to phone the council and ask if we can possibly get another one until the garden is completely renovated! Unfortunately most of what went in there was not fit for the compost bin as it was mostly dandelions and other weeds that spread!

But it looks better than it did! If we can get it cleared before the first frosts then hopefully by next spring we can start sorting it all out and planning where everything is going to go as I have huge plans for next year! But there was talk of allotments. The council did think i suggested that the wasteland between houses at the back of us be used as allotments, but i suggested splitting the land between the houses that surround it. As the house behind us is occupied by a pensioner, I did suggest that we would happily take the 35ft for our own garden. That way I could have my wish of keeping chickens! But I don't think that it will happen so will have to keep dreaming about a big fat lottery win so that we can buy a house in the country with loads of land ... that way i could have chickens, ducks, geese, piggies and possibly a couple of cows for milk!!! mmm now I'm dreaming about milk like you could get when i was a child and how you had to skim the cream off the top!

I inherited one here. No idea what it is yet. It doesn't look like any in the catalogues I've looked at (not many admittedly.) Anyway, it's yellow and much easier to cut than the 'Celebration' F1 type I bought. I shan't save any seed from that because it's F1.

This company, which you may know, has a piece on creating/saving squash seeds on its web site:

    http://www.realseeds.co.uk/

There's a lot of other good stuff & advice in there too.:D

Rummer - thats great! I must start saving the seeds from things like the squashes we eat and see if we can't sow them and get some "free" veggies!!!

I went out to check my tomatoes (which are a healthy size, they just need to ripen!) to find I have 3 little lemon seedlings!!! I was disposing of some old lemons and scooped the seeds out as I didn't want them growing in the compost bin. So I dried them out and planted them. Didn't expect anything to happen, specially up here but I have 3 growing nicely!!! Just wondering if I should put them in little individual pots and take them indoors so the cold doesn't kill them as its starting to get chilly up here!

hope you all have a good day xxx I'm off at 12 to get my motability car!!!!!
