Dave, I agree with LiR, your wife doesn't look old enough to have been married for 30 years. Or was she a child bride? ;) We're coming up to our 40th in June, and I'm hoping we'll have better weather than we did on our wedding day - force 8 gale and pouring rain!

Did make it to the house yesterday. Tidied up the patio (sort of) by moving all the stuff waiting to be chipped to the bare soil by the side of the house. Thus freeing up sufficient space on the paving for both cold frames, the second one is still covered in winter gunge, so we'll have to wash it before use. No planting though. Very stiff again this morning, am having to take even teenier tiny steps when walking than usual. But OH is coming home lunch time again to take me to the house, so will try and get some of my seeds sorted out. Plus have promised my Counsellor some Cos Violette seed so must take them with me this evening.

We plan a full day gardening tomorrow, so hopefully will get the main crop potatoes in (finally!) and might have a go at the earlies too - must remember to take the grow bags. Last year we had them at the front of the house, and the spuds did pretty well apart from one bag that had not a single spud in it. I think it was Swift. Some of them we didn't manage to harvest - were away at the caravan, and then the build started and then winter came too ridiculously early. Two of the bags now have volunteer spuds in them, so think we'll just leave them and see how they go.

Ordered more spuds from T&M - blue danube and another on special - will chit them then OH will go and plant them for DD2 as I don't think she or SiL will have time and energy for gardening with the twins! ;) Hard to think that they're coming up to first birthday next month!

Well, neither do I, of course, but in fact we were both at least 21 when we married....:p

Wonder if any of you guys have come across this http://www.nsalg.org.uk/

Apart from allotments this could become a bonfire of just about all LA responsibilities http://www.communities.gov.uk/localgovernment/decentralisation/tacklingburdens/reviewstatutoryduties/ - the list is scary and everyone could be facing CTCs situation.

I understand they are about to do the same for central governement activities including the possible removal of the Clean Air Act and the Climate Change Bill.

I so need to find/fix or buy a camera!
  • Pottered around today - not too much energy and a migraine

Did get the watering done, checked the planted out strawberries which seem to be doing well. OH will do strimming at the weekend if he's up to it, if not he will fire up the machine for me. Weeds are growing as you look at them, so need to keep on top of them.

This is a 'consultation' phase. I was aware it was going on, but I hadn't seen details, so thanks for the heads-up. Not exactly prominent in the media, is it?

Alfie, nice pics, but it doesnt seem to me that you're taking it any easier! How do you fit everything in?

Lir, I can think of better trees than sugar maples for pleaching, but there are various forms of the tree, including columnar. And yes, you do need a camera, pronto, or you'll regret not having the 'before' and 'after' pictures! See advice to PN over at nice people...:)

Things are just not moving fast enough for me here, or rather they are, but they're the wrong things! We have a plant sale coming up and precious little to sell at it, because we have spread ourselves too thinly. :o I think everything will be back under control in a month or so, but we're just chasing our tails ATM.

...However, the peas will go in today, and so will the chard! :)
