Figs out (in HUGE pots) ;))

The field we trashed over winter is greening up incredibly. I really won't need to reseed apart from by hand. HURRAH. :)

Must put my figs out. They are, sort of, being in the polytunnel with no doors, but I need the space now.

Yes, the fields have been transformed in the last week or so and everything's looking green again. Like you. I'll just be seeding the really bad bits.

Had a very long bonfire session again today and cleared a huge amount. Wasn't feeling energetic after picking up a tummy bug yesterday, but it didn't stop me going to the village Panto last night, which was hilarious. For the second year running everyone had learned their words, and if some of the special effects backfired, that just made it funnier. :)

We do well for a village of just over 600, including a few outlying places. At one point the Panto was in doubt, because the Village Hall ceiling was condemned, but a fund was set up, £1k+ was donated, and I'm told 8 builders gave their time at the weekends to sort the place out, all in a few weeks. I didn't know we had 8 builders! I dare say it will cost more than that, but we can raise the remainder over the year as there's plenty of events that could be tapped.

Anyway, it's the Panto supper in a couple of hours, which means an unhealthy amount of sausages and cheesy chips in the pub. I don't really deserve an invite, but as the partner of a costume-maker, I get to go :D:j

Our village is about the same size, and it feels HUGE to us....so much bigger than where we were....no hope of knowing everyone. And of course, closer villages. Next village has village hall cinema and a community run shop...(we're actually nearer that village...when people ask we say it depends who we are talking to which village we belong to ;)).

was reading a gardening leaflet from B and Q which says this month we shoulf FINISH making new beds! Bloody deflating...but obviously not written by anyone who gardens on clay, thats all I can say. Our manure, being light on bedding, actually doesn't lighten the soil much, but we are about to start hauling some into the back garden.

we made an edgar allen poe tree yesterday, as I tortured an un trained and discounted peregrine peach which had most branches in the right sort of places into a bit of a weird attempt at shaped....securing with black tights cut into strips. It looks very depressing! Never done it before....its a year of firsts!

OMG...I don't know where that rain came from.....it suddenly was pouring after such a sunny start. :( Still no digging the clay then ;) Our cheap garden fork broke, so popped out to garden centre and bagged the last, and there fore heavily discounted spear and Jackson one. Hope that was a decent choice...it wasn't the prettiest :) and its a bit heavy for me but should suit DH.

I am crying at your last paragragh... seriously got tears running down my chops...lol..

    I just want to say....

    thank you

to everyone on here.... it might seem really silly to say, but up until this thread was started, i totally felt alone, and in all honestly thought i was a bit of a fruit cake... wanting a life style/dream that i knew was totally out of my grasp...

A few years down the line, and its the eve of me putting in a sealed bid on the acre with the old cottage on it...( i did put an offer on it before christmas) will i win it who knows ( not holding my breath..lol..) even if i dont win its progress in the right direction...

EVERYONE in our little daydream family, those who post and those who just read are an inspiration...

Right better wipe these tears away and get off my butt and do some work....lol.......

CTC, fingers crossed for you. Guess at the end of the day it'll be "whatever will be will be". But I'm hoping for you!

    Hugs from Liverpool.

iv put the 2 new hens in the pen with the others and they are fine, got to spend part of this week building an aviary for the other birds and then i will fetch them.

saw a fabulous small open lot wagon on ebay..if it wasnt in doncaster i would have jumped at it,ideal for ruby as its not a full size one..by the time id finished titivating it,ruby would be old enough to pull it !!

well, hope youve all had a good day;)

I can't afford a carriage ATM, but a friend who has experience and skill has offered to break what ever I buy to harness. :) (I know she's the kind of person I trust as I taught her how to back babies ''my way'' to saddle.:D) I really want a buggy with a hood....but not a Victoria or Phaeton, a real old Doctor's buggy. I need shade.

CTC, we really are all behind you. But I'm going to be cautious and say I'm glad you've gone for it...BUT that if it doesn't happen something else can. (Its horrid to feel its the only answer because too much hangs on it). But I really hope it does. :):)
