Oh its divine. One of the things I treasure is the beautiful things people here share. I can't have choille's view, but I can see it sometimes, and the same from rhiwfield's beautifully soft contryside.

I could however plant some cowslips.......:)

Can I ask what you are doing about money...and honesty box? I'm really worried this will attract opportunist people, who might stop for the small change in a box but leave with guttering and scrap metal if they feel unwatched....:o:o otherwise I'd be selling eggs now...

Well there is always a risk, but if you price your labour at say £10 - £15 an hour, then hanging around, waiting for customers can soon become expensive too!

We don't let the amount of money build up, so there's rarely more than £10-20 in the money tin at any time, the site is overlooked by our kitchen window and we see a lot of the customers anyway. I'm thinking of having a locking mail box when we get going properly, and asking people who have those ever-popular £20 notes to post them separately in there and take change from the tin.

We monitored the system by keeping a tight inventory last year. To our knowledge, nothing went missing without payment. Sometimes things have gone and the money's turned up the next day. That's what I was told where I used to buy eggs: "If you're short, just have the eggs and pay later."

As regards general security, we are open to view from the road out front and the other entrance is by the barn conversions. Down there, comings and goings are watched!

But you have dogs.....and it seems like they do their stuff!:rotfl:
  • Hi all,

Hubby has gone to the farm auction, as he hasnt been there in ages, we were going to have a stall there selling our coats etc, put it forecasted rain, and it was piddling it down last night, but this morning its dry...lol...

I told hubby unless he sees arayburn or arga for about £2.50 dont bother buying anything:rotfl:

I got an American Express card, where you earn cashback, instead of putting the cash back onto my card i decided to have the money earned in homebase vouchers, so i had £185 yesturday on Homebase gift cards...basically for nothing.... better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick...lol.....

Hubby wants to buy tools, any tools, ( like a kid in a sweet shop when it comes to tools...lol....) but i think i will save them, for a raining day...

Got alot to think about this weekend, so the best thing for me is to sit in front of my sewing machine and do some crafting.... ideal place for thinking, as no one will interupt me while i am sewing.... as they know i am not very good at sewing... and need to be left anone to concentrate;):D

    Davesnave.....wish i lived closer to buy you a pint....;):T

Chucking it again today but managed to get a full day yesterday, weeding mainly. Got in amongst the fruit bushes and canes and cleared more bindweed; even the tiniest bit regenerates and I spent years trying to fend off the invasion from the derelict land on both sides and at the fence end. Almost there now but amazed at how persistant it is.

Need to move some small fruit bushes (from cuttings) and get them passed on quickly.

Cleared a lot of plastic that came in with the winds a few weeks ago; have enough rubble sacks to last a while.

Was stiff as a board last night but much improved this morning.

I have been rather negligent of the seedlings and garden. The weather has been quite mixed but I am determined over the weekend to get the two fruit beds done so I can top them up with Lidl bargains!

Figs out (in HUGE pots) I still can't decide on growing root restricted or unfertilised....so this will do for a good few years. (I'll certainly end up root restricting I know;))

The field we trashed over winter is greening up incredibly. I really won't need to reseed apart from by hand. HURRAH. Now just need to get the timing right for the weather and thing about rolling (still FAR to wet now, but its likely to be a narrow window of right.....the good news for me is that watering isn't likely to be a problem.)

Driven in now by HEAVY rain.

Best news is I saw the feral this morning. She looks excellent. :)

Good to see you all so busy :)

Gradually sowing more seed, today so far its parsnip and sweet peas, used the last of the toilet roll inners though :(

Couple of gutters of early peas next.

In the greenhouse, apart from the remaining winter salads, the seed trays of flowers and veg are germinating or growing on and the vents are open in the sun. Buds on the pears are swelling, garlic shoots a couple of inches proud of the soil, very springlike today, even the solar's performing after sulking with all the gloom and rain, cue two washloads :D
