I know exactly what you mean Poo - I am the same in some ways. I must make more of an effort. It is hard here - very sparse population & has become rather pooosh in some respects. I think we are regarded as the scruffs.

I have really retreated to the point I hardly go out now.

It is easy to just potter around and not go out though, isn't it, especially during these early-dark evenings?

I think both of us would rather stay at home, but we shall put in an appearance at the pub tonight, first of all because we ought to support it, and secondly because we've seen very few people since the snow.

Wouldn't say our area is posh. The pub is literally someone's front room, and the landlady kisses every local who comes in. It's a very friendly place with no pretentions of being 'Ye Olde Inn,' though it's a good few hundred years old.

I know what you all mean; far too easy to get holed up and fester.

Got onto the allotment yesterday. It looks kinda OK. I had already learned from the garden that the thaw was only skin deep, but even so was surprised to find that the water in the buckets was frozen solid, all 10 inches of ice now turned out. Anything I lift has ice below and when I tried to use the fork, the ground three inches down was solid.

Will try and prune the fruit bushes before the next freeze. Due to be above freezing for the next few days anyway.

Downloaded!:j .......I went to bed before it completed, so I will watch it next year. Have a feeling we'll be in the pub tonight! ;)

Lir, this one looks kinda cheap. Not even a Woolaway. You know the area.:) I guess there'd be the jolly old A303 rumble, but even so....Sealed bids at dawn is probably on their minds.

You know the house. Its next door to the left of the other one....the sellers of this now live in the one we both looked at ;) So they'd rcommend the area...but you might want to make sure of a really amicable purchase!

Probably among the best dog walking/horse riding possible at the back though....tremendous, not far from a mainline station to Waterloo (15-20 mins in the car) and excellent road access. I miss the area quite a bit....so it can't be too bad!

Unfortunately, as I am still quite a bit in debt and working hard on reducing it, I haven't been able to continue this new fangled "socialising" thing! Well not in the "real" world anyway. I think I do ok online though.

I think I am devolving though, slowly but surely, I mean, I'm up for a Daydream Challenge meet so that's progress isn't it? Looks like I can only afford one outing a year though! lol

Poo, well done...on every level. I'm even more impressed now. As for getting out, I gather you are not near us....if I had decking to scrub I'd ruddy well pay you to do it so you could afford to help!

Urgh... you're making me feel guilty but I just put on some pjs....should I get dressed again?

Hit the sales today to take my mother. She was very sensible, but we bought stuff.....new towels and a garden bench...to enjoy our view and the only bit of garden dug out when spring hits.....a very mse £140 reduced to £50. Got home and the new horse rug and my new yard jacket have arrived too. I shall be a vision in lurid purple from tonight onwards.

It is handy, and you svae a lot of time and money on travelling, but of course livery owners should be doing some stuff that takes time....checking troughs(and fixing them), fence checks, cutting hedges, weed control. TBH I'm not keen on DIYs but will be advertising for a couple of fulls come autumn..

I used to love being there at 5am before anyone else and feeding all the horses, even in the winter it was just so peaceful. Been thinking of getting a new horse in a couple of years and I was going to DIY again but the recent bad weather has made be think that someone on site taking care of my horse would be better and then I don't have to stress if I can't get there.
