not much to report really, my serama's a laying like its no tomorrow, so we are going to set up our smaller incubator and start hatching them out... and use our middle size incubator as a brooder...so you never know we might have chicks born on christmas.....
    .

Good luck! They are such attractive little birds. I bet the eggs would be amazingly attractive picnic fodder/''foodie'' purchase if pickled. I'm pickled egg obsessed ATM as I've recently done it for he first time, and made pink pickled eggs. I've never eaten one either, but DH pronounced mine ''very good'' after two days in the vinegar and the few people who have been in have all commented (they are still on my kitchen bench as I like the look of them).

Cats ARE earning their keep as heaters this morning.

i used to use top end of a good fluffy feather duster as a "mummy" when i hatched tiny bantams [plus heat lamp!]. keeps em cosy !
i have just spent a fortune at scats ! now have post traumatic stress !! last time we had snow, a lot of feeds were not available due to deliveries not able to get through from the midlands etc so thought id be clever and stock up now for ALL critters! my hand definatly shook as i parted with my dosh ! i walked out to see them loading my van with a mountain of sacks...... i was mentally trying to work out how long it would all last then divided cost by weeks and nearly drove off the b****y road when i realised what they all ate/cost....... and not an egg in sight :(

How long ahead have you bought for? TBH, in very worse casescenario our horses would be ''ok'' with all our hay and no feed, but two would struggle a lot We have a winters worth of grass pellets in, but not sugar beet as no one has it when I go. A winter's worth of shorts would be horrid cost.

The chooks I tend to buy a monthish at a time, the dogs three weeks ish, an the cats two-three months (buy online for them).

    Oh its so pretty Alfie!

We've had more here too, but its ok. Roads are passable, or would be if I had a car here. :( Even so I can't get a taxi to take me to the garage to collect the car because drivers don't want to head out of their towns.

Be safe. I remembered to take my phone out with me this morning in case I fell or something. It would take DH about four hours to get here, but better than waiting till friday night! my dogs love it...scampering about and wriggling with delight.
