Ours are still out till almost 5pm, but they take a daytime nap of at least an hour, sometimes two.

The Vorwerks are so funny at roosting time, as they always want to be last in. There are two that want to be the very last, so they will pop in, then pop out again to check nobody's still out there. Next, one will whip around the back of the shed, then the other will miss them and shoot off in pursuit.....and so on. Quite often, we have two circling the shed at speed, till one stops and the other hurriedly changes direction. This can go on for five minutes, till one gives in. They really are daft!

Reminds me of the auctions at Hatherleigh, which I can't follow too well. However, when I asked a local who'd bid successfully for a particularly obscure lot, exactly what it was, he replied: "Well, I'm not totally sure, but there's (name of breed) in there, so I shall have they, and if I don't want whatever else it is, it'll be back yer next week!" :rotfl:

Was at the rare breed sale yesterday & came back with a load of Orpingtons - and I mean a load: lavendars, blacks & buffs. Really lovely birds but shouldn't have really - today running around trying to make pens. OH gone a bit quiet. He is so good & handy atthe DIY. Knew I would buy some but not 16.....
  • Hi all,

Been trying to catch up with all the posts,

you can see there isnt much to do in the gardens now, as there are loads of posts...lol..

sorry i havent posted much, but been running a marathon in work, just to keep it still so to speak...

all my chickens have stopped laying now, except my young pair of seramas which laid their first egg this week:rotfl: flip its tiny...

havent managed to save much, but at least we are not going into debt.

been doing some crafty bits with vintage material and old welsh blankets for my antique stall, so hopefully next weekend we will do a christams them stall. saved money on a little christmas tree, as one came into work, less the bottom stand, so hubby is going to cement it into an old terracotta pot, will take some pics to show you all when its all done... it will not be nothing fancy as i am trying to keep it old prim country look...

been talking to the land developers, and asked if i could buy the waste ground by the side of our house, but they are toying with the idea of making an offer for hte 4 houses now, the price that they were thinking of offering i just laughed at... 20% over the market value... which sounds good but in reality its not..considering house prices have gone down, and our houses are around the 60 - 80k mark... think i will send them another email next week, to see what the news is

CBT - I hope it all works out. These developers are a different breed.
Hope your stall goes well & you make a good amount.

I'm off back out to help OH hammer in some fence posts - it's all hands to the pump today! Again.......

    I've been Money Tipped!
Choille, orpingtons are my dad's favourites. I really fancy another french wheaten maran or three for my breeding plans, but I don't seem to have much luck with them. I also want a white egg laying breed for next year and for my breeding programme....not decided what yet.

I can't believe how lovely they are & seem very docile. They seem very quiet only making little chiriping noises - not what I expected.

I don't think the cats are too pleased.

Some Scot's Greys lay white eggs, my Lewis strain do.

I think it'll be off to B & Q this week to buy some cheap sheds as the hutch affairs we've put them in won't surfice as the wee ones grow.
We have horrendous gales forecast for later so a matter of battening down the hatches.

Nice to hear from you again, CTC :)

Can you four residents stick together and negotiate with the developers as a group? If you don't, my guess is that they will try 'divide and rule.' :(

Developers rarely toy with ideas when they reach the stage of telling others about them, so it sounds as if they really want your site....in which case they should pay for it, handsomely. Of course they'll offer a reasonably good deal, but this is your home they're talking about, and there's inconvenience to consider too, so it should be a fantastic one! :j

Keeping my fingers crossed for you on this one. Next year won't be a bad time to move IMO, but having done a couple in the last two years, I'm not joining you!

Good that your business is holding its own. We went to the opening of our brand new village shop and PO yesterday, and there was a good turn out, but it's what happens in the next 6 months that will count. I do hope people use it, as the village has been without a proper PO for 7 years.

Of course it helps if people can trust Royal Mail. Sent a letter to DD2 last Tuesday, 1st Class, and it isn't there yet. Would we sell plants mail order? No.

Choille, you are naughty......but I like your style! 16!!!:rotfl:
  • thanks Dave..

I think you are right about them wanting the land where our houses are..the land developers where told that the land would have been much easier to develop if our houses wernt here...plus they are in no rush to return my emails etc about me buying the land... so they either have plans for that little plot, or they are maybe inquirying about what they potentially could do and get for the land where our houses are..

I will ape if they dont sell me the land, and develope it for something else, as i thought if i bought it, it would make sure no developement happens right by my house...

but time will tell.... exactly what they are up to..

16 chickens ...lol... flip i thought i was bad at buying at auctions etc....:rotfl:
