Lir, mainly variations on drawstring bags, so children's bags with 3 and 4 strand braids, pencil cases, glasses cases (with and without drawstring), gamer's purses for dice etc, mobile phone covers, crystal and gem neck pouches. Nothing too expensive, cheapest £3, most expensive £6. I'm exploring other things to make but these will form the stock for Saturday.

those are lovely rhiwy..
another good one ( well i think so anyway..lol..) is doing your drawstring bags alot bigger, and sell them for tackroom bags etc... it might be worth buying or getting hold of some cheap horse brushes, combs, hoof picks etc and make one bag up as an example...or come to think of it a leather/saddle care kit, with the saddlesoap and leather oil etc in them.
I should imagine these might go well, when you are doing a craft event in a local argri show where they have loads of kids competing with their ponies;):D
just had another thought...( i know i will have a miagraine all day now..lol..) leading up to christmas, what about shoe poliahing kits, ideal for presents for granddads etcWork to live= not live to work0 -
You folks are all so clever! I can't do craft at all......:o
I'll just have to carry on growing plants. Bred a promising dahlia this year, which I'll put on here eventually.
Meanwhile, here at the ranch, we are cutting back and burning, ready for the new fences, so I must go and show willing. Looks like we have a dead, mature ash tree to come out. That will be a decent load of logs!0 -

we just came home now for lunch ( we havent done this in ages) and found somone pinching our scrap:eek: it isnt really scrap, as its bits for a trike and bikes etc...
and they turned round and said, 'well we did knock, but there was on answer' and every time they pulled one of things out of their van, they shut the van door, and saying thats it, there was loads of stuff of ours in their van...
we took their reg no and phoned the police... and said we want to do them for attempted theft....
so i have stayed home this afternoon... i am going to be on tender hooks now, thinking every time that there is no one here, we might get robbed again....
Up until a year or so ago, i could honestly leave my car unlocked with the keys in it, i have even left my handbag in there over night and it was safe......now..... its just gone terrible....
I think the only reason why they dont try and come in the house is because we have a doberman dog with a very loud, deep bark...
I wish i could win the lottery or had a VERY long lost relative that leaves me squillions in their will:rotfl:
I think a cuppa and a chocolate biswit is in order:DWork to live= not live to work0 -

That's horrid. even when its bits that look like scrap and not something sentimental in the house one feels violated and vulnerableI want a doberman but ATM my dogs are quite enough (and causing me some trouble ATM) ! I think they are great dogs, we had one when I was little. Mine earn their keep in big barks too. Only problem is since the move they have become hyper protective...great from guarding standpoint, less great if they ...well....get to follow through and bite someone.
. The place here had had its bones picked over and occasionally people think about it but the dogs see them off very quickly.
I have quite a few sheets of corrugated iron now, dismantled and waiting to be dealt with, and barb wire the same. Going to have MORE barbed wire after this weekend too.0 -

CTC, your link only went to Rural Scene itself, but I'm guessing you were talking about the house in Gnoll Road, which was on the market some time back and now seems to have had a partial makeover. It might be OK to buy a house that needs a bit of TLC, but not when the land is wrong too. There will be some bargains about next year, I think, for those are able to take advantage of them. Most will have to sell theirs first though; something I know all about!
We've seen a couple of properties, one in particular with two accomodation units on (small detached cottages) recently reduced by 40K to £325K which is still ore than we would comfortably like to spend, as we want a good contingency. The second unit at a fifty percent occupancy as a holday let would bring about £6k but both properties look like they need a bit of work (We're going to view mid October)
What is the current view as far as the smallholding market is concerned? Do you consider it worth holding on? We're cash buyers but we would like to be in situ for the school year next year when our eldest starts primary school and we don't want to disadvantage him educationally (especially as he'll be learning Welsh!)0 -

Don't have time to post, or even lurk much at the moment as very busy with the twins and family stuff although we have been to West Wales this Summer and really like Cardigan and its surrounds as it's near the coast and there's a decent village and town centre (having lived in the city all my life, I don't wanna be too rural).

Dear CTC, so sorry to hear about this. I think even remote places are getting more prone to thefts.
We have a caravan in Wales, and it used to be very safe (OH going there for around 50 years I think) - OH used to always leave the car unlocked. It's not safe that way now, but he still has a tendency to not lock MY car - it drives me up the wall!
City no-goods look further afield now I think.
But surely even "scrap" left on your property is yours, so if they take it it's theft. If they didn't get an answer when they "knocked" it's still theft. You even have to offer the overhanging tree and bush stuff back to the owners of them if you cut them off over your land, so this is much worse than not doing that. (sorry bit tired, but hope you know what I mean)
All I can offer you is cyber hugs and hopes that these scumbags won't come back.0
