I also get in touch with building companies that have bought a house/houses on a plot to redevelope and ask if i can "rescue" the plants before the bulldozers go in! i have lugged loads of plants back . you usually have to have a hard hat [?] and a workman on site but you have to be quick as the 'dozers go in quickly!0

Alfie, well done on all the recycling! I've also been 'cultivating' the builders at local sites, now have so much free firewood I've had to stop as can barely get around the house! Never thought of fencing though, very good tip.
Rhiwfield, do you have a link to your and DW's website? Would love to see what you are doing and you never know, we might buy some? (I think you can make it your homepage to link to it, rather than putting the link on the forum)0 -

Troglodyte,
hope this works and isnt against MSE rules0 -
hope this isnt against MSE rules.
Great site, rhiwfield! Just the sort of simple, uncluttered and friendly site I'd be looking to make, though I'd not have the complication of actually selling through it. The 'goods' look super too.
If it is taken down, I can always stick a surreptitious link into one of my posts, if you want me to, that is.
Just recovering from taking daughter, ferret and about a tonne of 'stuff' to Bournemouth yesterday, ready for uni to start on Monday.
All a far cry from the day when I set out, at the age of 18, from a smallholding near here, to make my fortune in London....
I had one suitcase!0 -
Thanks for the link, I agree the site looks really good, clear and well presented, the goods look great too! All the best for the project!0

rhiwfield... fantastic site... but i got a funny feeling it maybe against mse rules,
I know you can put it on your user cp page;)
Yes the blankets are welsh ones...we have sold a few, ranging from£30 up to £85, so really pleased with the sales so far..
Been a bit of a scatter brain this week, we have boked a place in a local vintage fashion fair, and me being me, booked a double pitch:eek:, so now i have got to rummage and sort out, wash, dry, iron and price all the stuff up by next week....
1970's Levi Cords.... i would call them Retro, rather than vintage, and depending on where you would sell them, would depend on the price... plus the condition of them too, ooo ye and the colour... would be idea for uni/collage surfy dudes:rotfl:Work to live= not live to work0 -
CTC, Alfie, Trog, Davesnave, thanks for your comments, if anyone else wants to look see home page (click on my user name). Decided that link in sig was against MSE rules
CTC, we swopped all our duvets for wool blankets 2 years back, but even then we couldnt afford the welsh ones! We find that wool blankets keep the warmth but allow perspiration to escape to give a more comfortable sleep. BTW, love the blog on your home page!
Definitely autumn in the air, hands cold early morning when moving and cleaning out the chicken coop. Got 3 daleks full of rotting compost and now filling up the wooden bins. The chooks generate so much matter to rot down when you tot up the wood shavings, poo and daily rakings from the run. Reckon the shavings will take awhile to compost properly so glad of the extra capacity.
Very industrious yesterday, with DW finishing off a commissioned scarf and me finalising a display for the leather goods and making more to fill up the gaps, I'll be taking a side table at the next craft fair (Oct 2) with DW taking the front table with her knits. Got 3 enquiries on the leather, one a Blackberry cover, the second a crystal holder, the third a loincloth from Avatar for ecological fancy dress!! If the loincloth ever makes it into production I'll post a piccy0 -
Rhiwfield, see the post here on MG's thread by Midnight:

There is an offer for any arty/ crafty people to do a mini 'interview' and get a bit more publicity that way.0 -
I'm not sure if anyone other than Davesnave will remember me, but I moved in to our ''daydream'' in July and have been off line since about then. It feels amazing to have internet connection again!
We already have a small income from the land, but are finding it hard t make progress with important things. For example, where we hope to put our vegetable garden in is still hip high in grass, unfenced to the road (so we can't get the animals to graze it off). This week the woodburner was declared dangerous by the chimney sweep: that was our hope for heating this winter! It very frustrating as fairly recently installed by previous owners. DH is steadily chainsawing his way throught the macracarpa trees which block all west light from the garden. Progress feels a little two steps forwards three steps back, but its fun.0
